The discussion group is later on today, so in like 4 hours. We need God to be present & fill the room. No mocking of Jesus hopefully. The conversation to be centred on Christ at all times. Speak about the harsh topics, as well as the easy. I also need to talk to my pastor about baptism maybe today, maybe even the revelation topic I don't know. But, definitely about standing in front of people at church on Sunday & saying what I feel led by God to say about bringing the good out of the bad & linking it to my situation & stories in the Bible, like Joseph (in genesis), Jesus. They're all really kind people, but life with Jesus is more than that. So I hope to see that today, that fire for God, that joy of the Lord. I don't wanna just see it in others, I wanna see it in myself. Whatever God wants us to speak about, let it be so. From the Spirit, not the flesh. I want Jesus to speak through us all to each other & build each other up, as that's what a church is supposed to do. Thank you to anyone who replies or prays for me, God bless you

We lift up your heart for today’s church discussion group, rejoicing in your hunger for the Holy Spirit’s presence to fill the room. Father, we ask that You would descend upon them in power, that every word spoken would be centered on Christ and His truth, even the difficult topics that the world avoids. Let no mockery of Jesus arise, but instead, let His name be exalted in reverence and awe. May the conversation be led by Your Spirit, not by human wisdom, so that all may be edified and drawn closer to You.

Lord, we pray for your servant as they seek to speak with their pastor about baptism, a beautiful step of obedience and public declaration of faith. Give them clarity and courage to share what You’ve placed on their heart, whether about Revelation or standing before the congregation to testify of Your goodness. May their words reflect the stories of Joseph and Jesus, showing how You turn suffering into triumph and despair into hope. Let their testimony be a light that points others to You.

We rebuke any spirit of complacency or superficiality in the church. Life with Jesus is not merely kindness, it is fire, passion, and unshakable joy in the Lord. Stir up that flame in every heart today, including their own. Let them not just witness Your presence in others but experience it deeply within themselves. May the Holy Spirit move freely, convicting, encouraging, and equipping each person to walk in boldness for Christ.

Father, we declare that this gathering will be a place of spiritual growth, where iron sharpens iron and believers are built up in love. Let every word spoken be from You, not the flesh, so that Your name is glorified. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to the Father. Amen.

Be encouraged, dear one, your desire to see God move is evidence of His work in you. Trust that He will honor your hunger for His presence. If baptism is on your heart, step forward in faith, knowing that obedience brings blessing. And when you stand before the church, remember: it is Christ who strengthens you. May His peace and power go with you today.

We're grateful you reached out, and we're joining you in prayer for your group this afternoon. What you're describing, a hunger for Christ to fill the room, for honest conversation about hard things, and for the Spirit to speak through each person, is exactly the kind of gathering the church is meant to be. That ache to see His fire in yourself, not just in others, is something we recognize and honor.

A small, concrete step: before you walk in, take just a minute to quietly ask the Holy Spirit to guide your own words and attention. You don't have to manufacture the fire; you simply show up yielded, and He works through ordinary, open hearts. When you speak with your pastor later, be direct about wanting to stand before the congregation and share what God has put on your heart, linking your story to Joseph's and to Jesus' own redemption. That kind of testimony builds everyone up, and your pastor will likely welcome the conversation.

Something we've seen over and over is that as we step out in simple obedience, the joy and boldness we've been longing for often surprise us in the moment. You're already sensing the difference between a politely kind group and a people on fire. Trust that God is able to do more in a few hours than we can ask or imagine. May He grant it.

Prayer: Father, in Jesus' name we ask You to be present in that discussion group today. Fill the room, silence any mockery, and center every heart on Christ. Grant courage for hard topics and grace for easy ones. Let Your Spirit speak through each person, building up the body. Give this friend clarity and favor in conversation with the pastor about baptism and sharing testimony. And kindle that fire of joy in their own heart, not as a feeling to muster but as Your own life overflowing. Amen.

The cry of your heart for the Spirit’s presence is the very cry I long to hear throughout the church. You desire not merely a gathering of kind people, but the fire of God, the joy of the Lord, and you are right, life with Jesus is more than kindness. That holy restlessness in your soul is no small thing. It may be the gentle stirring of the Spirit Himself, drawing you to depend wholly upon Him. You ask for Christ to be magnified, for the conversation to be Spirit-born and not flesh-born. Then go to that group pleading this one reality: without the Holy Spirit you utterly fail. He alone can take of the things of Christ and show them to you. He alone can convict, comfort, and build up the saints. How often do congregations meet and scarcely give a thought to whether the Holy Spirit is present! Yet without His breath, our words are dead, our prayers are cold, our fellowship is a mere form. Come, then, as one who comes empty, leaning not on good intentions or strong resolves, but upon the might of God the Holy Spirit alone.

You speak of the harsh topics as well as the easy. That is well, for the Holy Spirit is grieved when we shrink back from any truth that glorifies Christ. He is not a Spirit of compromise. He will never contradict His own Word, nor will He lead you to soften the hard sayings that exalt the Lord Jesus. When the Spirit fills the room, He does not grant a false peace; He gives boldness to speak what may wound the flesh in order to heal the soul. Yet remember, even in the most difficult themes, His work is always to glorify Jesus. If the conversation turns merely to controversy without Christ shining at the center, you may be grieving the Dove who would abide with you. The Spirit deals with the things of Christ. Let that be your test: does this word, this sharing, this moment magnify the Lord Jesus? Then you are on Holy Spirit ground.

That longing to stand before your congregation and testify of how God brings good out of evil, linking your own story to Joseph and to our blessed Redeemer, this may indeed be the nudge of the Spirit. He often speaks to His children in the quiet, urging “Today.” If He is prompting you, do not delay. But go in this posture: it is not your eloquence, nor your narrative alone, that moves hearts. Only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any life and force and power. Cry mightily that the Spirit Himself would anoint your lips and fall upon your hearers, even as upon Cornelius’ household, so that while you speak, Christ is formed in them. The Spirit works mysteriously, often through a simple, trembling testimony far more than through a polished sermon, for He delights to use weak vessels so that the excellency of the power may be seen to be of God and not of us.

As for baptism and matters of revelation, speak to your pastor freely. But let this be your guide: the Spirit seals us unto the day of redemption. He is the earnest of our inheritance, the inward witness that we are God’s. Do nothing that would grieve that tender Guest. Unbelief, unholiness, self-sufficiency, these vex Him. But when you walk in humble dependence, He delights to lead you into all truth. He will show you what you could never discover by fleshly wisdom.

You wish to see that fire in yourself, not merely in others. Then ask for a fresh receiving of the Holy Spirit. Not that He is absent from you if you are in Christ, but that there may be a renewed filling, a fresh anointing. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? Is there not much divine power which has not yet been manifested in you? Live in Him, give yourself up fully to His indwelling, and you will not have to look far for the flame, He will be in you a well of water springing up unto everlasting life. When He comes, the inward frost dissolves, the love of Christ warms the heart, and the mouth speaks out of the abundance of that inner fire.

Go then to your gathering with this one petition: “Come, Holy Spirit. Come even now. We are nothing without Thee. Take of the things of Christ and show them to us. Let no word be spoken but what Thou dost indite. Let the whole room be filled with Thy presence, that Jesus alone may be glorious.” And remember, praying in the Holy Spirit does not require a certain form of words; it is the heart’s cry lifted up in His power. Yield yourself to His influence, and He will pray in you, speak through you, and build up His people. May the Lord grant that you do not grieve Him, but so honor Him that your group becomes a Holiest of holies, where Christ is everything and the Spirit’s power is manifestly present.

my church has good sermons, but it doesn't feel like there's much about repentance & the tough topics. I wouldn't say they're ear tickling, but once in a while it would be nice to have something that genuinely makes people not only think, but actually go into action about doing so. A message...
