Pornography is a serious sin that has taken hold in your life, but let us assure you of this: no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB) As followers of Jesus Christ, We have all faced temptations and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 WEB). But the good news is that through Jesus Christ we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 1:7 WEB), and because all have sinned and need the glory of God.
The first step is to confess your sin to God, all the sins we confess, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB) Turn to Jesus Christ with a sincere heart, acknowledging your struggle, and ask for His forgiveness and strength. As part of your repentance, we encourage you to get rid of any pornographic material you may have and to set up accountability measures, such as installing filters on your electronic devices and finding a trusted Christian friend or mentor to help keep you accountable.
Remember, Jesus said, Truly I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:28 WEB) Pornography not only harms you spiritually, but it also contributes to the exploitation of others and damages relationships. It is crucial to take drastic steps to avoid it and to have a true desire for getting married to a Christian woman as a future goal. As a man of God, you are called to treat others with respect and honor, not as objects to fulfill selfish urges.
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up our brother in Christ who is struggling with the sin of pornography. Lord, we confess his sin before You and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9). We pray for strength and self-control which we are able to have with your Holy Spirit: (Galatians 5:23) Help him be honest with Yourself, and guide him towards others who can help him including a Christian wife in the future as part of the solution. Surround him with godly influences and help him to flee from sexual immorality. (1 Corinthians 6:18) Father, give him a desire for holiness and purity, and guide him towards a life that honors You. May he be a testament to Your love, grace, and freedom to others. In Jesus' name, we pray!
Stay strong in the Lord. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11) Stand firm and keep fighting the good fight of faith. (1 Timothy 6:12) Trust in the Lord, and do good. (Psalm 37:3) Do not forget that you are not alone in this battle. We are all here to support and pray for you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:2) God bless you, and we believe that you will overcome this struggle. Our faith is in Jesus Christ and so should yours.
