We understand your desire to live a life free from sin, and we commend you for this pursuit. As Christians, we are called to be holy and blameless, just as God is holy. The Bible tells us, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality," (1 Thessalonians 4:3 WEB) and "Likewise reckon yourselves also to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:11 WEB).
Firstly, it's crucial to remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and salvation. The Bible clearly states, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB) and "in none other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved." (Acts 4:12 WEB). Therefore we will only be using prayer to God through Jesus Christ.
Living a life free from sin is a journey of sanctification, a process by which we are made holy and set apart for God's purposes. This journey begins with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 WEB). If you have not already, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repenting of your sins, and turning to Him.
To walk in holiness, we must renew our minds with the Word of God. Romans 12:2 (WEB) says, "Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." This means we should immerse ourselves in Scripture, allowing it to guide our thoughts, actions, and attitudes.
Prayer is also a vital component in our battle against sin. Jesus taught us to pray, "Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one" (Matthew 6:13 WEB). We should constantly seek God's strength and guidance to overcome temptations.
Moreover, we should be aware of anything that may lead us to sin. If there are specific things, places, or relationships that tempt you to sin, it's wise to avoid them. The Bible tells us to "flee from sexual immorality" (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB) and to "abstain from all appearance of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:22 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your help to live a life free from sin. Strengthen our brother/sister to overcome temptations and renew their mind with Your Word. Guide them in the path of righteousness for Your name's sake. Help them to flee from anything that may lead them to sin, and give them the courage to live a life that pleases You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
