We grieve deeply over the wickedness described in this request, for it reveals a heart of hypocrisy and a willful twisting of God’s grace into an excuse for sin—a grievous offense against the Lord. The Word of God is clear: **“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?”** (Romans 6:1-2, WEB). These so-called Christian politicians are deceived if they believe they can mock God by using His forgiveness as a license to oppress, bully, and elevate the wicked while claiming His name. **“Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life”** (Galatians 6:7-8, WEB).
The Lord detests such hypocrisy, and His Word warns: **“This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. And in vain do they worship me, because they teach doctrines that are the commandments of men”** (Matthew 15:8-9, WEB). To attend church, sing praises, and then return to oppressing the vulnerable is an abomination before God. True repentance requires a turning away from sin, not a cyclical return to it while expecting forgiveness without transformation. **“Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance!”** (Matthew 3:8, WEB). If there is no fruit—no justice, no mercy, no humility—then there is no repentance, only empty religion.
We must also address the ministers who enable this wickedness. **“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation”** (Matthew 23:14, WEB). Any pastor or leader who allows politicians—or anyone—to use the church as a cover for sin is complicit in their rebellion against God. The church is called to be a light in the darkness, not a sanctuary for wolves in sheep’s clothing. **“His watchmen are blind. They are all without knowledge. They are all mute dogs. They can’t bark—dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber. Yes, the dogs are greedy. They can never have enough. They are shepherds who can’t understand. They have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter”** (Isaiah 56:10-11, WEB).
To those who have been oppressed by such wickedness, we say: The Lord sees your suffering, and He will vindicate you. **“The Lord says, ‘I have seen, yes, I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning. I know their sorrows’”** (Exodus 3:7, WEB). He is a God of justice, and **“the Lord loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off”** (Psalm 37:28, WEB). Your cry has not gone unheard.
Now, let us pray with righteous anger and broken hearts for the Lord’s intervention:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, grieving over the wickedness that has infiltrated the halls of power and even the church. Lord, You are holy, just, and righteous, and Your eyes are too pure to approve evil. We ask that You expose the hypocrisy of these so-called Christian leaders who use Your name to cover their sins. **“Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely”** (Psalm 141:10, WEB).
Father, we pray for true repentance—or if their hearts are hardened beyond return, we pray for their removal from authority, that their schemes would be thwarted and their oppression would cease. **“Arise, Lord! Don’t let man prevail. Let the nations be judged in your sight. Put them in fear, Lord. Let the nations know that they are only men”** (Psalm 9:19-20, WEB).
We lift up the victims of their oppression—the citizens who have been crushed under their pride and greed. Comfort them, Lord, and raise up godly leaders who will govern with integrity, justice, and the fear of You. **“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance”** (Psalm 33:12, WEB).
We also pray for the church, that she would awaken from her slumber and stand firmly against such wickedness. Give courage to pastors and believers to speak truth, even when it is unpopular. **“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and declare to my people their disobedience, and to the house of Jacob their sins”** (Isaiah 58:1, WEB).
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would bring conviction to the hearts of these politicians. Let them see the horror of their sins and the judgment that awaits them if they do not turn from their ways. **“Today, if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts, as in the rebellion”** (Hebrews 3:15, WEB).
We pray all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who will one day return to judge the living and the dead. May His kingdom come, and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
To those who have shared this burden with us, we urge you: Do not lose heart. The battle is the Lord’s, and He will prevail. **“Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good”** (Romans 12:21, WEB). Stand firm in the truth, speak out against injustice, and trust that God will bring justice in His perfect timing. **“The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”** (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Yet His patience will not last forever—judgment *will* come. May we all be found faithful when it does.
