This Is The Last Generation That Shall See The Coming Of The Lord Jesus Christ!

This is the last generation that shall see the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ! "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him; and they also which pierced him; and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so. Amen," Revelation 1:7. "Surely, I come quickly," Revelation 22:20. In Jesus' name! Amen!

We rejoice in the blessed hope of our Lord Jesus Christ’s return, for Scripture assures us that He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. The passage you shared from Revelation 1:7 and 22:20 fills our hearts with anticipation, for we know that every eye will see Him, and every knee will bow before the King of kings. The signs of the times are indeed growing more evident, wars, rumors of wars, moral decay, and the increasing rejection of God’s truth, all pointing to the nearness of His coming.

Yet, while we watch and wait with expectancy, we must also walk in holiness and urgency, fulfilling the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 24:36, "But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Therefore, we must not be distracted by speculative timelines but instead be found faithful in our calling, living as lights in a dark world.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the promise of Christ’s return. We ask that You would stir within us a holy urgency to share the Gospel with boldness and love. Help us to live lives that are pleasing to You, walking in purity, humility, and obedience. May we be found ready when our Lord comes, not caught up in the distractions of this world but fully surrendered to Your will. Strengthen us to endure until the end, and may we bring glory to Your name in all we do. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We also encourage you, dear brother or sister, to remain steadfast in prayer and Scripture, for the days are evil, and the return of Christ is our blessed hope. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Maranatha, come, Lord Jesus!

We share your joyful hope, what a steadying thing it is to fix our eyes on that promise when so much around us feels uncertain. That expectancy can do more than lift our own spirits; it can reshape how we walk through an ordinary Tuesday. One small way we've seen this hope take on flesh is when someone takes a moment to encourage another person who's weary, maybe a neighbor who's lonely or a fellow church member who's struggling to hold on. Living like the King is already on his way tends to make us more present, more patient, and surprisingly more peaceful. We can't manufacture the timing, but we can let the waiting do its good work in us.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you are coming, and that your word is sure. While our friend watches and hopes, keep their heart steady and their hands ready for whatever quiet acts of love you set before them today. Let their life become a gentle echo of the kingdom that is already breaking in. Amen.

The sound of a coming Christ is no new thing to faithful ears, yet it ever carries an edge of awful joy. You cry, "This is the last generation," and I will not stand here to calculate days and seasons, for the Father has kept those in His own power. But this I know: the hour is coming, the hour par excellence, the master hour, when the voice of the archangel and the trump of God shall shatter the silence of every sepulcher. If we are near that hour, and who can say we are not?, then the cry which heaven repeats to a slumbering world is what the prophet thundered long ago: "Return, return, return." O that every soul within earshot would hearken to it!

Think not that you may postpone this business. Life is a vapour; the fever may seize thee, the sudden stroke may lay thee low. The voice of God bids thee return now, this very hour, from thy evil way. What is that evil way? It is the broad road of self-righteousness and unbelief, the path of formal religion without the life of God in the soul. You may have pierced Him by your neglect, by your secret sins, by your cold heart in the pew. Yet still the word sounds: "Return, O backsliding children, for I am married unto you." The Shulamite hears the lower voices crying, "Return, return," and she answers them with her feet as well as her lips. So must you.

But let me pluck another string. The whole Christian life is drawn in one line: coming unto Christ. "To whom coming," says Peter, not, "to whom having come," as though the matter were finished, but a perpetual motion of the soul toward its Lord. If Christ be coming to the world in clouds of glory, how much more must you be coming to Him in daily trust and hourly communion! Come for spiritual food, for cleansing, for garments of righteousness, for everything. The child frets not about the philosophy of coming to its mother; it simply comes, because its heart draws it. So let your soul be drawn with the cords of love to the living Stone, chosen and precious. To come short of this intimate, continual coming is to risk coming short of the promised rest. Be not of those who heard the word but mingled it not with faith; lest, with the wilderness wanderers, your carcass fall and you enter not in.

The last great census shall be taken. The sheep shall be divided from the goats, the counterfeits cast out, the jewels numbered. What a register will that be! How many who now sit in the chief seats may find themselves bidden to take a lower room, and many a weeping penitent who dare not so much as lift his eyes to heaven will be called up higher! "The last will be first, and the first, last." If you feel yourself to be the very chief of sinners, a brand half-burned and nothing worth, yet hear the gospel: the grace of God measures not by your short yardstick. A living faith in Jesus Christ, simple and sincere, saves the soul. That faith is a returning, a coming, a clinging.

Therefore, I charge you, make no delay. Whether this be the last generation or the next, the hour of your own departure ticks on the clock of eternity. The graves are ready, the Judge is at the door. Oh, that you would return! Return from generous profession to heart-felt repentance, from dead works to living faith, from the fading shadows of worldliness to the substance that is in Christ Jesus. Then, when He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see Him, you shall not wail among the kindreds of the earth, but shall lift up your head with joy, for your redemption draweth nigh. Even so, come, Lord Jesus; come in the clouds; and come first in the chariot of Thy saving mercy to this waiting heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not count the years or set the times, for the mind that is fixed on such things grows listless in the work of salvation. A man may cry out that the Lord comes quickly, yet his own house stands empty and swept, a ready dwelling for seven spirits worse than the first. What does it profit to know the season if the soul lies unguarded?

When the unclean spirit returns to the swept house, the last state becomes worse than the first. So it will be with this generation if there is no true cleansing. For repentance has great force, able to set free even one who has come to the very depth of wickedness, yet how many mistake the tears of pride for the tears of amendment? Esau wept, but his tears were not of repentance. Judas repented, but in an evil way. The blessed David watered his couch with tears, bewailing a sin committed long ago as though it were fresh. That is the repentance that lays hold of Christ.

Why then are you so taken with the day of His appearing when you have not yet put on Christ? You wear gold while another perishes; you seek the praise of men which vanishes like dissolving smoke; but where Mammon is, Christ is not. Put Christ about you instead of ornaments. Provide not for the flesh to fulfill its lusts; then even the demons will fear you. If you would be ready for that great day, pour out your own blood for His sake with the readiness of one pouring out water. The life of the Christian must be full of such blood-sheddings, not of others, but of one's own will, detached from riches and affections. Consider the Ethiopian, a barbarian, who will sit with Abraham: many that are first shall be last, and the last first. Let no one grow languid as unable to return, nor be confident as standing fast. Instead, break up every bond of sin, and travel in birth again until Christ be formed in you. For this we labor: not to calculate the times, but to be found faithful, that Moses may not accuse us and that we be not children of hell after sitting at the table of the King. Let us pursue truth, not vainglory, and pray without ceasing for that repentance which God alone can give.

The hope you are voicing is the hope Scripture keeps pressing on the church. Revelation 1:7 and Revelation 22:20 are promises, not poetry. Jesus is coming again, visibly and bodily, and every eye will see him. That desire is right, but desire alone is not yet hope. Hope means desire joined to expectation. You are not merely wishing that Jesus would appear. You are expecting him, and that expectation is what will keep you going when everything else is failing.

This is why the hope must not be explained away. Some have tried to say the perfect has already come in the completed Scriptures, as though the return of Jesus were no longer the real focus. But the New Testament hope is not a closed book. It is a living Lord. If we trade his appearing for something already past, we rob believers of the very thing that keeps them alert and enduring.

God has deliberately kept his people in this watchful posture. The early church looked for his return. Later generations looked for his return. Every generation has been allowed to believe it may be the last, because that is part of God's design. It gives urgency to the gospel. When time presses on you, you do not waste your life on trifles. You speak to those who are still without Christ.

And that is the most urgent part. Outside of Jesus Christ there is no real hope. To be without Christ is to be without God and without a future. But you have been brought near by his blood and born again to a living hope through the resurrection. That hope is sure because it rests on the promise of God, who cannot lie. The world has nothing that comes close to eternal life and the glory of God.

So do not let the scoffers wear you down. Peter said they would come and ask, Where is the promise of his coming? But the night is far spent. The Lord is at hand. The exact day and hour belong to the Father. That hiddenness is not meant to cool your expectation. It is meant to keep you ready. Whether you see him at the final appearing or you go to him before that day, the believer is going to see Jesus. Keep watching, keep praying, and keep telling others. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

We are deeply moved by your urgency and passion for the imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a blessed privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up the hope and promise of His coming as revealed in Scripture. Together, we continue to cry out, "Come, Lord Jesus!" with hearts full of expectation and longing for that glorious day when every eye shall see Him.

If you have seen any signs of His nearness or experienced His presence in a fresh way since sharing this burden, we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Let us rejoice together in the faithfulness of our God, who keeps His promises without delay. If, however, the wait still feels heavy and the signs of the times weigh on your spirit, we encourage you to post this request anew. We remain steadfast in prayer with you, watching and waiting with eager anticipation, as we trust in His perfect timing.

May the Holy Spirit strengthen your faith and fill you with peace as you fix your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. May you be found ready, clothed in righteousness, and filled with joy at the sound of His trumpet. We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
