The Secret To Ministry Is Intimacy With God.
There is no theological training that can equip you to actually speak the
words of God. There is only one thing that can equip you and that is
being with Jesus. You can only truly minister what you yourself have
received from God. Jesus was successful on earth because He was close
to God.
That is the secret to ministry, intimacy with God. It is just that simple.
There are no formulas, except one: closeness with God. This involves
(1) spending time in prayer, (2) soaking in God’s Word, (3) learning to
hear God’s voice and (4) being trained in obedience. (5) It involves
learning to operate in the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the same anointing
that was upon the Lord Jesus Christ in his ministry. All these five steps
will help each of us develop a close and intimate relationship with God.
A life of prayer is the foundation of all ministries. What we hear in the secret
place with the Lord is what we speak out in the open. Out of the overflow of
the life we draw upon in our hidden times with the Father in prayer, we minister
to those around us. It is in the secret place that God shapes us, teaches us and
prepares us to be sent out.
What does Isaiah 50:4 say? "The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue,
to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen like one being taught."
Prayer Focus: God I ask You in Jesus’ name help me develop a close intimate relationship
with You in this New Year (2019). Help me develop the habit of spending quality quiet time
alone with You daily, praying, meditating on and soaking in Your Word. Let me find myself
seeking Your face and Your will for my life about everything. Train my ears to hear Your still
small voice even clearer. Bless me with the desire, strength, and spirit of obedience to obey
Your Word and will for my life. Anoint me and use me for Your glory. Teach me how to operate
in the anointing of the Holy Spirit as Jesus did. God all that I have asked of You in this prayer
please do the same for the writer of the prayer and every Christian that I know. Let this be a
forever lifetime habit in each of our lives. Thank You God. Thank You Jesus. Thank You For
Loving Me. Amen.
