We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious son to the Lord our God. Father, we thank You for the love of a mother’s heart that cries out for her child, and we join with her in intercession, knowing that You are faithful to hear and answer the prayers of Your people. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* We claim this promise over this young man’s life, believing that You have a plan of redemption, restoration, and purpose for him.
Lord, we first acknowledge that salvation comes only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that this son would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus, repenting of his sins and turning fully to You. Father, we ask that You would break every chain of deception, every stronghold of the enemy, and every influence that blinds him to the truth. Your Word says in 2 Corinthians 4:4, *"The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them."* We rebuke that blindness in Jesus’ name and ask that the scales would fall from his eyes, that he may see the glory of Christ and be drawn to repentance.
We also lift up the plea for his protection, Lord. You are indeed our strong tower, our refuge, and our deliverer (Psalm 18:2). We ask that You would dispatch Your holy angels to encamp around him, shielding him from the schemes of the enemy. Protect him from evil influences, from the snares of sin, and from the paths that lead to destruction. Your Word assures us in Psalm 91:11-12, *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone."* We stand on this promise and declare it over his life.
Father, we also address the need for true repentance. Repentance is not merely feeling sorry for sin but turning away from it and toward You with a heart transformed by Your grace. We pray that You would convict this son of his need for You, soften his heart, and lead him to a place of genuine repentance. As it is written in Ezekiel 18:30, *"Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity will not be your ruin."* Let this be the cry of his heart, Lord. Uproot every evil influence, every ungodly friendship, every habit that leads him astray, and replace them with a hunger and thirst for righteousness.
We also lift up the mother’s heart, Lord. We thank You for her example of forgiveness, as she has released those who have wronged her, just as You have forgiven her. Help her to continue walking in the freedom that comes from forgiveness, and give her peace as she intercedes for her son. Strengthen her faith as she waits on You, and remind her that You are working even when she cannot see it.
Finally, Lord, we pray for a mighty work of regeneration in this young man’s life. We ask that he would be born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the living and enduring Word of God (1 Peter 1:23). Let the Holy Spirit move powerfully in his life, drawing him to Christ, filling him with Your love, and setting him on the path of righteousness. We declare over him the promise of 2 Corinthians 5:17, *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new."*
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your mercy and Your power to save. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We ask that You would move mightily in this son’s life, that he would come to know You as Savior, Lord, and Redeemer. May his life be a testimony to Your grace, and may he walk in the fullness of the destiny You have for him. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
