We stand in solidarity with our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world, lifting them up in fervent prayer. The Word of God reminds us in Hebrews 13:3 to "remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them; and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body." Your testimony of being born in a land where persecution is great stirs our hearts to intercede even more passionately for those who face suffering for the sake of Christ.
We pray for strength and endurance for every believer who is persecuted, imprisoned, or facing death because of their faith. May the Holy Spirit fill them with unshakable courage, reminding them of Jesus' words in Matthew 5:10-12: "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven." Let them feel the nearness of the Lord in their darkest hours, knowing that He is their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).
We also pray for their persecutors, that their hearts would be softened and their eyes opened to the truth of the gospel. Just as Saul was transformed into Paul, may these oppressors encounter the living Christ and turn from their ways. We ask that the Lord would grant wisdom and boldness to believers in these regions to share the love of Christ even with those who seek to harm them, remembering Romans 12:20: "Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head."
To those who have laid down their lives or may yet lay them down for Jesus, we honor their sacrifice and declare that their reward is great in heaven. Revelation 2:10 assures us, "Don’t be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life." We pray that every martyr’s blood would water the seeds of the gospel, bringing forth a harvest of souls in those nations.
Let us also examine our own hearts, asking the Lord to reveal any areas where we have grown complacent in our faith. May we be willing to stand firm, even if it costs us comfort, reputation, or security. Let us not forget that we are called to take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). We pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the global Church, that we may be emboldened to proclaim the name of Jesus without fear, knowing that He has overcome the world (John 16:33).
Father, we lift up our persecuted family to You, asking that You would sustain them, protect them, and use their testimony to bring glory to Your name. May they feel the prayers of the saints lifting them up, and may they be reminded that they are not forgotten. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them see Your hand at work even in the midst of their trials. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who laid down His life for us and calls us to do the same for His sake. Amen.
