'The One Thing' - John 6:28-29

[When Jesus told the people in the crowd that he had the Father's seal of approval, they] replied, "We want to perform God's works, too. What should we do?"
Jesus told them, "This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent."

John 6:28-29 NLT

Key Thought

What does God want us to do? What is the work that endures to eternal life? What matters most in the scope of all other things? Believe that God sent Jesus to be our Savior.

Today's Prayer

Dear God, my Father, please stir me to live with my faith in Jesus as THE most important thing in my life. Help me properly discern what is important. Help me integrate everything into my life based on my relationship with Jesus. May Jesus be the center of my life, my hope, and my faith. Amen.

I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God who came to earth to save lost souls and show they the way to reach heaven. Jesus is the Door we must enter in and I am ready to see Him coming in the clouds of glory and take us all home to His glorious city. The New Jerusalem awaits for all of us.

I believe, I trust Jesus words. I am ready to fly away to be with Him forever. His power and mercy will follow those who serve Him.

I believe this is a poor translation of John 6:29 by NLT -- the actual verse reads: "This is The Work of God that You believe in the One whom He sent." This would keep with Eph 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES -- it is the GIFT of God so no one can boast."
The NLT makes it sound like Jesus is saying believing is a work -- very dangerous ground...
