THE LORD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU!
He shall say: "Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." Deuteronomy 20:3-4
Are you tired of the turmoil in your life? Are you tired of all the marriage problems that you are facing today? Are you ready to throw in the towel and give up on your marriage being restored, since the circumstances seem impossible? Do not be afraid. Do not walk and live in fear, but trust your Lord to fight against your enemies which will give you victory in your marriage in God's perfect timing.
We often read email or letters where men and women may say: "I am too wounded to fight any more. I am too tired and hurt too much to fight. I just do not feel like fighting any more. I am ready to give up, what should I do?" The answer is: Let your Lord fight your battle. Your Lord is the One who will fight for you against your enemy, which may appear to be your spouse or someone else at the moment, if you will let Him. Something is wrong in your stand if you are doing all the fighting, instead of walking in faith, seeking the Lord for His instructions and then obeying and trusting God.
What you must do is to "Let go and let God" move your mountain of circumstances. Your response is living a life of faith and obedience in what you know you must do. You married your husband or wife for life, you love them, but you often fear the unknown future. Then the enemy speaks regularly to your mind putting doubt, lies and hopelessness in it to torment you. What do you do? First, learn to use God's weapons in fighting the enemy.
Every day start your morning with your Lord, reading a devotional, praying and reading a couple of chapters in the Bible. Remember that praise and worshiping the Lord defeats the enemy. Always put the Armor of God on you, your spouse and children daily. (Read Ephesians 6:10-18.) Be ready to be obedient to what the Lord wants you to do for that day. Will you "Let go and let God" deal with your spouse and marriage problems today? Another way of doing this is to lay all your problems at the foot of the Cross and surrender everything to your Lord to handle in His perfect way by praying to the Lord, "Here is my marriage, my ____ problems and my beloved spouse. Lord, rescue me from the enemy. Protect me from any harm and show me Your will and way in my life. I will obey and do whatever You want me to do. Amen."
Let me take you to Exodus where Moses was leading the Israelites out of captivity and into the promised land. Unexpectedly, the Egyptians started coming after the Israelites to take them back home into captivity. The Israelites were terrified and became fearful as their circumstances looked hopeless. What did Moses say to them?
Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen." During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, "Let's get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt." Exodus 14:13-18, 24-25
"The Lord is fighting for them!"What a powerful statement. The Egyptians knew that the hand of the Lord was causing miracles to happen as the Lord divided the Red Sea into two walls of water, so the Israelites could walk on dry ground. They knew they could not win. Nothing is too hard for your Lord God to do. Will you believe that for your marriage, for your teenagers' problems and even for your financial problems by allowing the Lord to fight and solve your problems? Never doubt God's mighty power to fight for you and your family.
Do not give up on your Lord God! Do not grumble and complain to your Lord about all your circumstances. He knows and sees everything. May you and I never forget the Word of God as we glean wisdom, knowledge and guidance that we need to apply to our daily lives from its pages. Allow God to fight your daily battles through you praying, letting go and letting God turn your circumstances around to good. You need to believe and deepen your faith, trust and dependence, knowing of God's mighty power to help you direct every step that He wants you to take.
The Israelites should have entered into the Promised Land 39 years before they did. God's promise was delayed because the people grumbled against God, hardened their hearts and rebelled by not believing in following God's commands. (Read Numbers 14:33-34.) You and I need to have a holy fear of being out of the Lord's will, losing His presence, His grace and His protection in our lives. Learn from the Israelites that you do not want to live in disobedience with God. That is what your husband or wife is doing right now!
You need to have a holy fear of disobeying the Lord's commands to what He has spoken to your heart regarding anything such as marriage restoration or a call of ministry on your life. Saying "No" is not going to get rid of the Lord. He will wait and tell you again and again until you have taken many detour roads of going around your mountain of circumstances several times. Does that ring any bells? What are you to do? Trust and believe that the Lord God will fight for your marriage, for your spouse and for your children daily.
Allow your Lord God to defeat and subdue your enemies by His divine intervention. You will read throughout the Bible where you see the Lord defending and protecting His children. Your Lord wants you to trust Him, praise Him and give Him the glory when the battle is over. Your marriage will be restored by God's divine power, not by what you have done or accomplished personally. Always remember to give all the glory and honor to your Lord when your Lord does small or big miracles in your life!
