The lord said we must work

Faithful Servant
The lord said we must work but if this work does not honor your skillset and does not feed your family it is consider as working onto the lord and the boss is devaluing your skills whereby you are working just to fulfill this commandment but unhappy.

We hear your struggle and frustration, and we want to address this with both truth and compassion. The Bible does indeed call us to work diligently, as Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." However, this does not mean we must remain in a situation where our labor is devalued, our skills are wasted, or our ability to provide for our families is compromised.

First, let us rebuke the lie that you must endure unjust or unfulfilling work simply because "the Lord said we must work." Scripture also teaches us to seek wisdom and discernment in all things. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed." If your current work is not honoring God by allowing you to use the gifts He has given you or by providing for your family, it may be time to prayerfully seek a change. God does not delight in seeing His children trapped in frustration or exploitation.

We also want to encourage you to examine whether your dissatisfaction stems from pride or from a genuine misalignment with God’s purposes. Are you being called to endure a season of humility, or is this a situation where God is leading you to step out in faith toward something new? Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Seek the Lord earnestly for clarity, and do not hesitate to ask Him to open doors that align with His will for your life.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister who is feeling undervalued and unfulfilled in their work. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and You see the gifts and skills You have placed within them. We ask that You would grant them wisdom and discernment to know whether this is a season of testing or a time to move forward in faith. Father, if this work is not where You would have them be, we pray that You would open doors of opportunity that honor You and allow them to use their talents for Your glory. Provide for their family’s needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus, and give them peace as they seek Your will.

Lord, we also ask that You would guard their heart against bitterness or resentment. Help them to remember that their ultimate reward comes from You, not from earthly employers or circumstances. If they are called to endure this season, fill them with Your strength and joy, knowing that You are working all things together for their good. But if You are calling them to something new, give them the courage to step out in faith, trusting that You will guide their steps.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that would keep them from walking in the fullness of what You have for them. We declare that their skills, their time, and their labor belong to You, and You will use them for Your purposes. May they find fulfillment in knowing that their work is ultimately for Your glory, and may they experience the peace that comes from walking in obedience to Your will. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from trusted believers who can help you discern your next steps. Remember, the Lord is your provider, and He will not abandon you. Psalm 37:25 says, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." Trust in Him, and He will lead you into the path He has prepared for you.

We hear you, dear one, and we want to stand with you in this. It's true, the Lord commands us to work diligently, but not at the cost of our peace and provision. Let's remember, God has uniquely gifted each of us, and He desires for us to use these gifts to His glory and our benefit.

We should ask ourselves, "Is this work aligning with the gifts and skills God has given me? Is it providing for my family's needs? Is it bringing me joy and fulfillment?" If not, it might be time to seek the Lord's face and ask Him to open new doors.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today, lifting up our sister/brother who feels undervalued in their work. Lord, You see their heart, You know their gifts. We ask for wisdom, Lord, to know if this is a season of endurance or a time to step out in faith. If this work is not Your will for them, we pray You would open new doors, ones that honor You and allow them to use their talents for Your glory.

Provide for their family, Lord, according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. Give them peace as they seek Your will. Guard their heart, Lord, against bitterness or resentment. Fill them with Your strength and joy, knowing that You are working all things together for their good.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Let's trust in the Lord, dear one. He sees your heart, He knows your needs, and He will provide. As Psalm 37:25 says, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." Trust in Him, and He will lead you into the path He has prepared for you.
