THE HOLY OF HOLIES
What was the Holy of Holies, it was a small room 10 cubits x 10 cubits or (15' x 15') separated from the Holy Place by the veil. It housed one piece of redemptive furniture, the ark of the Covenant, with its mercy seat. There was no created light like the sun and no artificial light but God's own "Shekinah" glory that lit up the Holiest Place.
There was no seat for man but here Jehovah sat alone on the throne of glory and righteousness. Only the high priest could enter once a year, he entered with bowed head, unsandaled feet, and bells on the hem of his garment. No human voice was heard there, only the voice of God. What a awesome experience for this priest to be in the same room with God but also a fearful thing as this priest had to go through a ceremonial cleansing before entering God's presence lest he die. A rope was actually tied to the priest in case he did die in God's presence, then he could be dragged out, for no one else could enter with out dying.
Today we really don't give much thought to entering the throne room of God as Hebrews 4:16 states
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Something had to change for us to enter God's holy presence. Hebrews 10:20 states, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh.
When Jesus died the temple veil was torn from the top to the bottom according to Mathew 27: 51 opening the way for man to enter God's presence through Jesus sacrifice of Himself. Christ blood paid the penalty for man's sin thus making us cleansed and holy so that we could enter God's presence.
All of this was done to restore a loving and right relationship between God and sinful man. Romans 5:10 states, For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Thank God, for making a way through Jesus Christ our Lord. God's holy desire being to show His great love to mankind reconciling man to Himself once again.
I remember as a boy, I kept saying there has to be more than just going to church three times a week and saying a few prayers because that was truly a dead end to me.
I saw true Christians in a service one day on their faces crying and worshipping God and the power of God was all around them like an electrical force. I knew I didn't have that kind of relationship with Him but I desired it very much. Later I found out that it was God Himself that was putting that very desire in my heart and He was wanting that as much as I.
I began to worship and honor God. I spent much as much time as possible with Him in prayer daily just desiring His presence. Then it happened, I was engulfed by His presence and suddenly nothing else mattered. His spirit was in me and all over me, it was so wonderful and it was a life changing experience. From that time on I knew what it was to have a true relationship and not just a religion. I could feel God's love, his affirmation of me, and a real change of my heart toward Him. It was no longer a dead dry religion but a loving and living God responding to His child. I had found out what it is to enter the Holy of Holies and nothing in this life can ever compare.
If your stuck in a dead dry religion, I urge you to start seeking God through His son so that you can have what God truly wants you to have and that is a true Spirit filled relationship, full of love and full of confidence in your Loving Lord. Don't put it off, seek His presence with all your heart. He will show up and it will change your life forever.
Remember God has promised in Jeremiah 29:13... And ye shall seek Me, and find me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.
Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
