The former Landlord's Christian Sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol.

We join you in prayer for this difficult situation and we thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus and for her willingness to be a light in her family. We pray that God will continue to speak through her and strengthen her witness so that her brother may be drawn toward repentance and truth.

We are burdened by what you have shared about the life threatening apartment and the attempt on your life, and we bring this before the Lord asking for His protection, justice and exposure of the truth. The word of God says, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17, and also Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11. We pray that nothing remains hidden in darkness and that your former landlord's sister is not kept in the dark, but that the full truth about the condition of the apartment and the actions surrounding it will be made known in God's timing.

We also must address the sexual relationship you mentioned between your former landlord and this woman. Outside of the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, such a relationship is fornication and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and God calls His people to flee from this sin. The Scripture says, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We pray that both your former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, repent, and turn to live in purity before God, pursuing only what honors Him in marriage if it is His will.

We join you in praying that they both will put God first, for Jesus taught, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. We pray that our mighty and powerful God will expose and destroy every idol in their lives, for God has said, You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3. Idols of money, power, control, lust or self interest must fall, and we ask the Lord to tear them down so that He alone is enthroned in their hearts.

We also pray for you, that God will be your refuge and protector and that justice will be done according to His will and through proper authorities. Vengeance belongs to the Lord as it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and we trust Him to act righteously while we also encourage you to continue to seek help and protection through lawful means as God has established authorities for our good.

Heavenly Father, we lift up this sister to You, fill her with boldness, wisdom and love to speak Your truth without fear. We lift up her brother, that his eyes would be opened, his heart softened, and that he would turn from any wrongdoing, from sexual immorality and from idolatry, and walk in the light. Expose every hidden deed, destroy every idol, and let Your truth and holiness prevail. Protect the one who has been harmed and let Your peace guard his heart. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and mediator, for there is no other name by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne. Amen.

We hear how much weight you have been carrying with this housing situation and the fear you have felt. It makes sense you would long for truth to come into the light and for someone with a steady faith, like your former landlord's sister, to be a clear voice in it.

We are praying that the Lord continues to strengthen her walk with Jesus and that her life and words would be a steady, godly influence in her brother's life. Real influence for good grows out of faithfully seeking God and living that out day by day, and we are asking the Holy Spirit to guide her in how to speak and when.

We are also praying with you for protection and for clarity. You asked that nothing remain hidden about the condition of the apartment and about the other situation you described, and that God would be put first and every idol brought down. We join you in asking God to expose what needs to be exposed and to lead you in wisdom for what to do next.

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we join you in seeking His face concerning it. We have heard your cry for protection and for truth to be made manifest, and we take it to the throne of grace where Jesus Christ alone is our Mediator and our only hope of salvation.

We will pray for the sister of whom you speak, that the Lord who is true in His very nature and true in all generations would continue to speak through her and make her to be as the Church of the living God is called to be, the pillar and ground of the Truth. May she be kept faithful to that Truth which honors God and humbles man, and may she have boldness to speak it with love. We will ask the Lord that she be not kept in darkness concerning those things which concern your welfare and safety, but that what has been hidden may be brought into the light, for our God is a God of truth and He will in His own time reveal what is done in secret. We pray that her influence may be used by the Spirit of God to call her brother to consider his ways.

We will pray also for the former landlord, that he may be brought to put God first and to fear Him with that holy fear which follows upon forgiveness. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy law, for we know that marriage is His ordained covenant of one man and one woman for life, and that intimacy belongs only within that covenant. Where there has been immorality, our prayer is not for its continuance but for repentance, for cleansing through the blood of Christ, and for a turning away from sin unto holiness. We ask that every idol, whether of lust or of gain or of self, may be utterly abolished, till the heart can truly say, What have I to do any more with idols, and become the temple of the living God.

We will pray that our mighty God, who is slow to anger and who warns before He wounds, yet who will by no means acquit the wicked, would expose and destroy every false way and bring justice where there has been wrong. If life has been threatened and evil purposed against you, we ask the Lord to be your deliverer as He was to Jacob when he cried, Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, for I fear him. He who met Jacob with angels and heard his prayer is still the keeper of His people. We ask that the Lord would lift up the poor from the dunghill and shelter the afflicted, and that He would restrain the hand of violence and bring all hidden counsels to nothing. We pray that you may be kept in perfect peace as you trust in Jesus, who is God incarnate, the end of fear, and that you may know His protection and His power to save.

May the Lord grant to each soul concerned a true conversion, to be emptied of conceit and filled with His fullness, to live in His life and be wise with His wisdom, and to walk in the obedience of faith through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is pardon and life.
