THE FATHER OF
COMPASSION & COMFORT
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Do you need to be comforted today? Are you a mother who is hurting due to no communication from your husband this Mother’s Day? Are you a father who possibly did not hear from your children this past weekend at all? The Lord knows your pain and the rejection that you have had to go through on a very special weekend. Allow the Lord to put His arms around you this week to comfort you as He is truly the only One who can comfort you perfectly. He knows your deepest emotions, thoughts and sufferings.
“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.†John 14:26-27
I was listening to the radio on Monday and hearing the different radio programs that were talking about the many mothers who were hurting on Mother’s Day. They were talking about the many women whose mothers had died previously. Then there were the young mothers who had not borne a child due to infertility and how difficult Mother’s Day was for them. There are the women that I know as standers, who want to be mothers and wives so badly, but they are being faithful and obedient to their wedding vows and are praying and waiting for their husbands to return home very soon. There is another group of mothers who were hurting on Sunday and that is the ones who had an abortion a while ago. They always remember that day on Mother’s Day, but now that you are a believer you will be reunited to your little child when you get to Heaven.
If Bob was here, he would tell you that he never forgot Mother’s Day in his mind, but when he was with the other woman she tried to watch everything he did or spent. Bob followed her rules so that he would not be rejected or fear their relationship would end.
I looked up the word, Comforter, in the Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary. In the Greek, one of the meanings is paraklesis, which means:a calling to one's side; hence, either an exhortation or consolation, comfort. God knows your needs and so He sends His children the Holy Spirit to comfort you through your trials and tribulations or sorrow.
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Isaiah 40:1
You may be the one who needs to feel the presence of the Lord today. Your circumstances are overwhelming and if you did not believe in the power of the Lord God, you would give up. You may be facing divorce, court hearings, or having to sign papers that you do not agree with. You may be alone due to your marriage problems and your spouse has the children most of the time.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
Are you suffering from loneliness or hopelessness today? You may be feeling like your heart is going to break in two because of all the pain you are going through. Ask the Lord to heal your broken, wounded heart. Do not allow this past weekend to destroy your faith in what the Lord can do in the future. Your husband did not want to give you any hope or encouragement so he played the silent game. I had a Mother’s Day like that. Remember who you are in Christ. You are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ our Lord! Nothing is too hard for Him!
A Prayer for you:
Lord, may You comfort Your child who is standing in the gap for their marriage to be brought back to life again. They are standing on the promises of God, believing and knowing, You are the only One who can resurrect their dead marriage. Lord, touch and heal their wounded, broken heart. Lord, heal their raw emotions and feelings which can affect their body, soul, and spirit. You are the Jehovah-Rophe, the great Healer. I pray that You will go and touch this stander's husband’s or wife's heart and mind for them to come to their senses, repent, turning from their sinful lifestyle and return home to their waiting spouse and family, suddenly, now. I pray this in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
Don't give up! God hears your prayers and understands all that you are going through. He understands your hopelessness, your worries, your doubts and your fears. Allow your Lord to be your Comforter today.
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. “Selah.†Psalm 62:5-8
Moms, this week count your blessings that you are able to raise your children in your godly home with the Lord’s help. I know you have to go to work to provide for your children, but when you come home and on the weekends, ask the Lord to give you extra strength and His agape love as you enjoy being with your children of all ages. Do not worry about tomorrow. Put all your hope in your Lord God. He will never fail you. Just believe in His precepts and stand firm on the Lord’s promises.
May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. Psalm 119:76
Your Lord God will comfort you and give you hope. Allow Him to be your refuge and your fortress. Turn to the Lord alone and trust Him for every problem in your life. Only He can remove your mountains of circumstances. He will never fail you. He died on the Cross for you alone. When you can do nothing else, call on the only One who is with you in the darkest hours of the night, saying, “Jesus, Jesus help me.†He will then comfort you as only He can! Now believe what the Lord is doing on the other side of your mountain and praise His holy Name.
God bless,
