The council!!!

We hear your heart regarding the council and we agree with you that we come before the Father only in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is not merely a phrase but the very basis of our access to God.

We are reminded of what Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and also Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 So we do not pray in Jesus name as a formality or to satisfy a requirement, but because it is only through His sacrifice and His name that our prayers are heard and we are reconciled to God.

We take your request for the council to the Lord together now.

We pray for the council, whatever council you are lifting up, whether it be leaders in the church, in the community, or in government, that God would grant them wisdom, integrity, and a fear of the Lord in all their deliberations. We ask that He would guide their decisions according to His will and for the good of those they serve. We pray as we are exhorted, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men for kings and all who are in high places that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 Father, pour out wisdom upon these leaders, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him. James 1:5 Let their counsel be marked by righteousness, humility, and unity, and let every plan that is not of You be brought to nothing while Your purposes prevail.

We encourage you to continue to bring every matter before the Lord in Jesus name with confidence, knowing He hears us when we pray according to His will. We join with you in trusting that God is at work even when we do not see the full outcome, and we thank Him that we can approach His throne with boldness through Christ our Lord. We pray all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear the urgency in your message about the council and we want you to know we are praying with you. When something like this feels big and pressing it can be hard to find quiet to think clearly, and it helps to know you are not carrying it alone.

We do not have details about which council you mean or what decision or meeting is weighing on you, but God knows exactly what you are carrying and what is at stake for you and for the others involved. He cares about wisdom and peace in places where people gather to make decisions that affect a community.

One simple next step that often helps when thoughts feel urgent is to jot down in a few short sentences what is most concerning to you about this council, what you are hoping for, and any question you wish you could ask. Bringing that clear note before the Lord can make prayer more focused, and it also gives you something concrete to share if you talk with a pastor or another trusted person who knows the local situation and can help you understand the process.

We will keep praying that you feel steady and supported as this unfolds and that you have someone nearby to talk with.

Father, we bring this council and every person connected to it to You. Give clarity where there is confusion, wisdom where decisions must be made, and peace to our friend as they wait on You. Lead them to the right next conversation and help them sense Your nearness and care. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Your cry concerning the council has been heard and has been carried to the throne of grace, and we join with you in prayer for this matter which so presses upon your heart.

There is a word of the Lord which meets your case, for it is written, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This is that peace which the blood of Jesus whispers within, a peace not dependent upon outward circumstances, nor upon what men may decide in council chambers, but upon Christ Himself who is our peace and who has made peace by His blood.

It is the mind which is the main thing, and the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Be not troubled overmuch about the cause of God, as though everything depended upon you, for His Church will not die, since the Lord still lives and His Spirit still abides. What is required of you is to stay your mind upon the Lord, to seek first Christ and not merely peace, for peace will come next as the fruit of believing.

Many cry peace, peace where there is no peace, but the peace which God gives is a blessing without sorrow, a peace which flows like a river, a peace which passes all understanding and keeps the heart and mind through Jesus Christ. It is peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and from that fountain flows peace of conscience, which is the publication of the treaty which Christ has sealed.

Therefore let us pray together. O Lord God of peace, You are unmoved though we are troubled, and Your heart cannot change. Look upon this Your servant who is pressed by thronging duties and by care concerning the council. Grant wisdom from above, for the price of wisdom is above rubies, and let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, for what You do is always best. Keep this soul in perfect peace, with mind stayed on Christ, and let the peace of God rule within. Turn every anxious thought into prayer, and let faith bring its filling peace, a well founded peace through Jesus Christ alone, by whom alone we have access unto You. Guide the deliberations of those in authority, and grant that all things may be ordered for Your glory and for good. We ask this not by any other name, for there is no other name whereby we can be saved or heard, but in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who has vanquished death and all its powers and has left us His own peace. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your urgent cry concerning the council has been heard and has been brought before the Lord in prayer.

We join you in asking God to grant to those who sit in that council a wisdom that is not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world which are coming to nothing, but the wisdom of God which is hidden and yet revealed to His people. The wisdom that trusts only in itself becomes foolishness, but the wisdom that comes from the Spirit is true prudence and brings light and order.

We pray that the council would seek first what is true and holy, that it would act not for appearance or for human praise, but for piety and for the common good. We ask that God would give its members courage to do what is right, even as the apostles departed with joy from the presence of the council when they had stood firm for Christ, and that He would keep the Church in unity and peace. For the name Church itself is a name not of division but of gathering together in concord, and God desires His people to be one in Christ Jesus.

May the Lord make His will known to those in authority, lead them away from every counsel that is foolish in His sight, and guide them to decisions that honor Him and serve justice and mercy. May He also give you peace as you wait, and help you to continue in prayer and faith, gathering fruit from your worship and not merely observing a form.

We commit this whole matter to God the Father, asking all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, through whom we have access to grace and by whom alone we are saved. Amen.

We hear your urgent cry concerning the council and we are joining you in prayer in the name of Jesus.

We are reminded that the word translated church means those who are called out to reign and rule with God. The church is not divided into many separate churches belonging to different groups or places. There is one church and it belongs to God alone. Only Jesus can say my church. All who truly belong to Him are members of His one body, His universal family, wherever they meet. When a council gathers, it is important to remember that oneness and to seek what honors Him, not what divides.

That is why wisdom is needed so much in such a moment. There is a wisdom that comes from this world. It is earthly and self focused and it leads to envy and strife and confusion. It is not true wisdom at all. The wisdom that comes from above is different. It is pure and peaceable and gentle and it produces good fruit. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of that wisdom, and in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. We should ask for that kind of wisdom for every person who will speak and decide.

Scripture shows us that God can give that wisdom to a council. When the first council met in Jerusalem to answer a very difficult question about whether Gentiles must keep the law of Moses to be saved, God gave a word of wisdom through James that brought peace and solved the problem. He can do the same now.

So we will continue in prayer for this council with thanksgiving, as we are taught to do. We will labor fervently in prayer, trusting that the Holy Spirit helps us to pray according to the will of God even when we do not have perfect words. The fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much, and when even two or three agree together concerning a matter, the Lord hears.

We pray now, Father, in the name of Jesus, that You would pour out Your Spirit of wisdom and understanding upon this council. Let Your fear be the foundation of every discussion. Remove earthly wisdom that leads to strife, and give the pure wisdom from above that leads to purity and peace. Guide every decision so that it reflects Your truth and Your love and strengthens the unity of Your people. Purify Your church from anything that would weaken its witness, and let Your power be seen as Your people walk in holiness and love. Give peace to the one who brought this request, and let Your will be done. Amen.
