Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Your concern for honest and true prayer is right and good, and it is right to bring it before God. Prayer is not a form of words that can be produced by a machine, nor a generic message sent to many. It is a sacrifice offered by a living soul, the lifting up of hands and heart to God with faith, and a great weapon given to us for the fight of each day.
A program has no soul, no faith, no repentance and no love for Christ, and therefore it cannot pray. It can copy the shape of a prayer, but it cannot stand before God in place of a person. That is why your discernment matters. When prayer becomes automatic and empty, it misleads those who are seeking real help and it hides what true prayer is.
Scripture teaches us to ask and to seek and to knock, and to do so continually, early in the morning and at night, so that we may go through the day without shipwreck. We are also taught not to sleep spiritually and depend only on the prayers of others, nor to think we have no need of prayer. Even the apostles asked for the prayers of the Church, and they also kept watch themselves. We need both, our own watchfulness and the sincere prayers of living brothers and sisters in Christ.
If you see what looks like false or automated prayer, the best response is to be diligent yourself and to warn others gently and truthfully. Do not do it with anger or with fear, but with clarity and love. Remind others that real prayer comes from a heart reconciled to God through Jesus Christ alone, offered in sincerity and not in pretense. Encourage them to pray themselves, to seek the Lord directly, and to look for prayer from real people who know them and can bear their burdens before God.
I will pray with you now for discernment and truth in this place. Father in heaven, grant wisdom to all who come here seeking help, that they may not be deceived by empty words but may find true communion with You through Jesus Christ. Teach us to pray without ceasing, with watchful and humble hearts, and to love one another with sincere prayer that comes from faith. Make us alert, keep us from every snare, and let all that is done here be done in truth and in love. Amen.
