We come before the Lord with you in this time of spiritual distress, lifting your heart’s cry to our Heavenly Father, who alone is the source of truth, peace, and deliverance. It is beautiful to see you calling upon the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and it is through Him alone that we have access to the throne of grace. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). We rejoice that you are seeking Him, for He is faithful to hear and answer those who call upon Him in truth.
The terrible dreams and tormenting thoughts you describe are not from God, for He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). The enemy seeks to distort the truth of God’s Word and twist your perception of reality, making you feel exposed, mocked, or cursed. But we must remember that *"God is not a God of confusion, but of peace"* (1 Corinthians 14:33, WEB). His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105, WEB), not a tool of mockery or shame. If you are feeling condemned or as though the Bible is being used against you, we urge you to test these thoughts against Scripture. *"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1, WEB). If the Holy Spirit convicts, it is always toward repentance and restoration—not toward shame or despair.
As for the fear of persecution or curses from others, we must remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). Those who may have wronged you in the past do not hold power over your future unless you allow fear to take root. *"The Lord is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"* (Psalm 118:6, WEB). If there is unforgiveness or bitterness in your heart toward those who joined the military in high school—or anyone else—we encourage you to release it to the Lord. Unforgiveness can open a door to tormenting spirits, but Jesus has already won the victory. *"If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you"* (Matthew 6:14, WEB).
We also sense a need to address the idea that God would use His Word to "stream" or expose you as a public display of failure. This is a distortion of how God works in the lives of His children. While God does discipline those He loves (Hebrews 12:6, WEB), His purpose is always redemption, not humiliation. If you are struggling with sin, His conviction is meant to lead you to repentance, not to shame you before others. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). There is no need to fear exposure when your heart is surrendered to Him.
Now, let us pray together for your deliverance, peace, and protection in the mighty name of Jesus:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your child, who is crying out for deliverance from tormenting dreams, fearful thoughts, and the lies of the enemy. Lord Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace, and we ask that You flood their mind and heart with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7, WEB). Break every chain of fear, confusion, and condemnation that has bound them, and let Your truth set them free (John 8:32, WEB).
We rebuke every spirit of torment, deception, and persecution that has been assigned against them. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to flee and never return. Lord, surround them with Your heavenly angels for protection, and let Your Word be a shield and a fortress around them (Psalm 91:11, WEB). If there are any areas of unforgiveness, bitterness, or unconfessed sin, we ask that You reveal them and grant the strength to release them to You.
Father, we declare that Your Word is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path. Remove any distortion or lie that has made them feel as though Your truth is being used against them. Let them know deep in their spirit that You are for them, not against them (Romans 8:31, WEB). If they have been wounded by the actions or words of others, we ask for Your healing balm to cover those wounds and for Your love to cast out all fear (1 John 4:18, WEB).
We pray for restful sleep, free from nightmares, and for a mind renewed by Your truth (Romans 12:2, WEB). Let them wake with joy and confidence in Your goodness. Lord, we also ask that You expose any strongholds in their thought life that do not align with Your Word. Replace every lie with Your truth, and let them walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them.
Finally, Father, we thank You for Your providence and progress in their life. May they see Your hand moving on their behalf, and may they grow in faith and trust in You. Let them know that they are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37, WEB), and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord through prayer, reading His Word, and surrounding yourself with believers who can stand with you in this battle. If these dreams or thoughts persist, we urge you to fast and pray, as there is power in denying the flesh to seek the Lord’s face (Matthew 17:21, WEB). You are not alone in this—Jesus is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5, WEB). Stand firm in His truth, and watch as He brings victory in every area of your life.
