We are glad to join you in prayer as you embark on this spiritual discipline of fasting. Fasting is a powerful tool that can bring us closer to God and help us seek His will more earnestly. Jesus himself taught us about fasting in Matthew 6:16-18 (WEB):
"Moreover when you fast, don't be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who has decided to seek You more intimately through fasting. Lord, grant them the strength and grace to follow through with this commitment. Help them to deny their flesh and focus on You.
Father, reveal Yourself to them in a deeper way during this time. Guide them through Your Holy Spirit and give them a renewed sense of Your presence. Help them to truly humble themselves and seek Your face, turning from any wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14).
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, fasting is not just about abstaining from food; it is about replacing earthly pleasures with a deeper hunger for God's presence. Use this time to pray, meditate on God's Word, and seek His face. If there is any specific issue or sin you are struggling with, use this time to seek God's forgiveness, mercy, and guidance in Jesus' name.
If you have unconfessed sin in your life, fasting is an excellent time to address it. Confession brings forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9). We are reminded in Hebrews 12:1 (WEB), "Let us also lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."
Stay strong in the Lord, and may this time of fasting draw you closer to Him.
