We join you in giving thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings of exercise, nourishment, and the strength to seek His will in all things. It is right to come before Him with gratitude and to ask for His protection over our minds, for He alone is our refuge and strength. You have done well to invoke the name of Jesus, for it is written, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is only through Christ that we have access to the Father, and we rejoice that you have called upon Him.
The mind is a battlefield, and the enemy seeks to fill it with distractions, lies, and things that do not honor God. The apostle Paul urges us, *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things"* (Philippians 4:8, WEB). Your desire to guard your mind from harmful and useless information aligns with this scripture, and we commend you for seeking purity in your thoughts. The influence of drugs—whether prescribed, recreational, or even the subtle addictions of this world—can cloud our judgment and make us vulnerable to the enemy’s schemes. We must be sober-minded, for *"be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour"* (1 Peter 5:8, WEB).
If you are struggling with the use of drugs that are not prescribed or are using them in a way that impairs your mind or body, we urge you to seek freedom in Christ. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to glorify God with it (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Substances that alter the mind can open doors to spiritual oppression and hinder your ability to discern God’s voice. Repentance and surrender to Jesus are the first steps toward freedom. He says, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light"* (Matthew 11:28-30, WEB). There is no shame in admitting struggle—only victory in turning to Him.
As for the unwanted learning and memories of advertisements or harmful information, we pray that the Lord will renew your mind and replace those things with His truth. *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2, WEB). The Holy Spirit is our Helper, and He can bring to remembrance the things of God while helping you forget what is not profitable (John 14:26). We encourage you to fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and godly teaching, for these are the tools the Spirit uses to sanctify us.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, thanking You for the gift of life, for the ability to move and exercise, and for the provision of food to sustain the body. Lord, we ask that You guard their mind from every harmful influence, every distraction, and every lie of the enemy. If there is any dependence on substances that cloud their judgment or hinder their walk with You, we pray for conviction, repentance, and complete deliverance. Break every chain, Lord, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in freedom and clarity of mind.
Father, we ask that You would purge from their memory the rubbish and advertisements that seek to occupy their thoughts. Replace those things with Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Let them meditate on what is pure, lovely, and praiseworthy, that their mind may be a dwelling place for Your truth.
We thank You, Jesus, for the authority You have given us over the enemy. We rebuke any spiritual forces that seek to oppress or confuse our brother/sister, and we declare that their mind is under the protection of the blood of Jesus. Holy Spirit, bring to remembrance the Scriptures that will strengthen and encourage them, and help them to forget what is not of You.
Lord, we pray for a deeper hunger for Your presence, that they may seek You above all else. Let their exercise and daily routines be acts of worship, offering their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to You (Romans 12:1). May they find their rest and satisfaction in You alone.
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in all things. If you are struggling with substance use or addictive behaviors, we urge you to seek godly counsel and support from a Bible-believing church or Christian recovery program. You are not alone in this fight—Jesus is with you, and He has already won the victory. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Stand firm in Him, and He will uphold you.
