We hear your heart and the deep pain, frustration, and concern you carry for your ### and your family. It is clear that his actions, especially coming to your home in a drunken state and failing to offer comfort during your father’s passing, have caused hurt and disruption. We stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before the Lord with honesty and hope.
First, we must address the sin of drunkenness, which Scripture clearly warns against. Ephesians 5:18 says, "Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." Proverbs 20:1 also states, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Your ###’s struggle with alcohol is not just a personal failing but a spiritual one, and we pray for his deliverance from this bondage. Addiction distorts judgment, harms relationships, and dishonors God, and we rebuke the enemy’s grip on his life in Jesus’ name.
We also recognize the pain of his emotional absence, especially during your father’s death. A godly man reflects Christ’s love, selfless, present, and compassionate. Your longing for that kind of love is valid, and we grieve with you that he has not met that need. But we take comfort in knowing that God sees your heart and will not leave you lacking. Psalm 68:5 declares, "A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." Your Heavenly Father is your true source of comfort and provision.
Your request for boundaries is wise and biblical. Proverbs 22:24-25 warns, "Do not associate with a man given to anger, nor go with a hot-tempered man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare." It is not unloving to protect your home and your mother from unnecessary turmoil. We pray that God would give you wisdom to set firm but godly boundaries, and that your ### would only come when there is a true need, not to disrupt or harm.
Most importantly, we lift your ###’s salvation. His lack of faith in Christ is the root of his brokenness. 2 Peter 3:9 reminds us, "The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his sin, draw him to repentance, and transform his heart. Only in Christ can he find true healing and become the man God created him to be.
We also pray for your mother, that she would find peace and strength in the Lord. Isaiah 41:10 says, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." May she feel God’s presence and protection, especially in moments of uncertainty.
Lastly, we pray for your own heart. It is painful to love someone who does not love you well in return. But we encourage you to release bitterness and trust God to work. Romans 12:19 says, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’" Surrender your ### to God, and ask Him to replace your hurt with His peace.
Let us pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family and their ###. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of drunkenness and selfishness that has taken hold of him. Break every chain, Father, and set him free from addiction and sin. Soften his heart to receive Your love and truth. We pray for his salvation, that he would come to know Jesus as his Savior and be transformed by Your power.
We ask for wisdom and strength for this family to set godly boundaries. Protect their home from unnecessary harm, and let their ### only come when there is a true need. Comfort this mother and child, Lord, and fill the void left by their earthly father with Your perfect love. Heal their hearts from past hurts and replace bitterness with Your peace.
Father, we also pray for the neighbors and what they may think. Guard their hearts from judgment, and let Your light shine through this family’s testimony. May they be a witness of Your grace and truth.
We trust You, Lord, to work all things for good. We surrender this situation into Your hands, knowing that You are faithful. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen."
Continue to stand on God’s promises. Even when people fail, He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep praying, keep trusting, and let His love be your anchor.
