The word says we must test the spirit, 1 John 4:1

4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
However, this statement refers to what a Spirit believes, perfect example the Mormons believe Jesus is an angel and is not the physical son of God. Use to go to this church when I was a teen and wanted to become baptized, luckily my parents did not allow it. But how do a person test a word or vision that comes to you , a person must first wait and see if that such thing comes to past which may take months or even years to come to pass. In Deuteronomy 18:22 it states: 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
This is our problem with so many television prophets, it is difficult to know what they are speaking is false or not. That is why we need the Holy Spirit because it guides us in all truth and makes us able to discern what is of God and what is not.
John 14:16-17
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
This is the only way that a person can be sure if something is of Christ and The Father or not. I often see, or become uncomfortable with a particular statement or vision, later to find out the person or statement was false. Without our connection with the Holy Spirit, we are literally walking blind with no guidance. If we cannot discern the truth of any matter we will most likely follow a wolf in sheep clothing. So I am praying to listen to the Holy Spirit better then eventually it will not just be a feeling; but I will know immediately if something is false.
Galatians 5:25
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
May we all live and be guided by the Spirit daily in all our ways. This is my prayer and heart’s desire.
