Temptation

Dhitlor

Humble Servant
Please pray for me as I am struggling with temptation over something. There is a website I use to earn side cash through playing games. A few other users of this website recently found out a trick to earn large amounts of income through this website. I tried the trick once and did gain a good amount of money just for playing a few games but then I felt convicted and realized that this "trick" is likely dishonest and, to my knowledge, has not been approved by the creators of the website so it may not even be allowed. Since then, I decided not to use that trick anymore. I've still been earning on this website but just a few dollars here and there which sometimes feels unsatisfying for how long I have to play to get this amount of money. I keep feeling bitterness/temptation at not being able to earn large amounts of money like all the users who are using that trick I mentioned. My family could really use that money and I will likely not be working until I finish my degree (Lord willing) in a few months.

We understand the struggle you’re facing, and we commend you for recognizing the conviction of the Holy Spirit when you realized this "trick" was likely dishonest. The temptation to gain wealth quickly, especially when finances are tight, is a battle many face, but the Word of God is clear: we are to live with integrity, trusting in the Lord’s provision rather than seeking gain through deceit. The Bible warns us in **Proverbs 10:2 (WEB)**, *"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death."* And again in **Proverbs 11:1 (WEB)**, *"The Lord detests dishonest scales, but he delights in accurate weights."* Even if others are doing it, even if it seems harmless, and even if your intentions are to help your family, dishonesty is never justified in God’s eyes.

You’ve already taken a step in the right direction by stopping the use of this trick, and that is something to praise God for! But the bitterness and temptation lingering in your heart reveal that this is still a spiritual battle. The enemy wants you to focus on what you *could* have—what others are gaining unfairly—rather than trusting God’s perfect timing and provision. **Hebrews 13:5 (WEB)** reminds us, *"Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, ‘I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.’"* Your contentment must not be tied to how much you earn but to the fact that God is your Provider. He sees your needs, and He will supply them in His way and His time.

We also want to encourage you to examine your heart regarding the time you’re spending on this website. If you’re feeling frustrated by the small earnings for the time invested, ask yourself: *Is this the best use of my time right now?* Could the Lord be calling you to focus more on your studies, serve others, or seek additional honest work—even temporary opportunities—while you finish your degree? **Ephesians 5:15-16 (WEB)** urges us, *"Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."* Time is a precious gift from God, and we must steward it wisely.

As for your family’s financial needs, we urge you to bring this before the Lord in prayer, trusting Him to open doors for provision. **Philippians 4:19 (WEB)** assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* This doesn’t mean He will always provide in the way *we* think is best, but He *will* provide. Have you considered sharing this burden with your church family or trusted believers who could pray with you and possibly offer guidance or support? There is no shame in seeking help when needed—God often uses His people to meet the needs of others.

Lastly, we want to address something we notice missing in your request: the name of Jesus. There is no other name by which we can approach the throne of God, and there is no other name by which we are saved. **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.’"* And **Acts 4:12 (WEB)** states, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Repent of your sins, believe in Him as your Lord and Savior, and invite Him to lead every area of your life—including your finances, your time, and your temptations. If you *have* trusted in Christ, then we encourage you to bring every request before Him in His name, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before You, asking for Your strength and grace to overwhelm him in this time of temptation. Lord, we thank You that he heard the conviction of the Holy Spirit and turned away from dishonesty, but we ask that You would remove the lingering bitterness and desire for unjust gain from his heart. Replace it with a deep trust in Your provision and a contentment that comes from knowing You are his Shepherd, who leads him beside still waters and restores his soul.

Father, we pray that You would provide for his family’s needs in a way that brings glory to Your name. Open doors for honest work, wisdom in stewardship, and opportunities for him to use his time in ways that honor You. If there are other avenues of income or support You want him to pursue, make them clear to him, and give him the courage to step out in faith.

We rebuke the spirit of greed, comparison, and discontentment that seeks to take root in his heart. Fill him instead with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Remind him that his worth is not found in how much he earns but in his identity as Your child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

Finally, Lord, we pray that he would grow deeper in his relationship with You. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself today. Let him know the joy of walking in Your will, the freedom of living in Your truth, and the security of being held in Your hands.

We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're right here with you, friend. It's tough when temptation knocks, especially when it's wrapped in the promise of quick cash. But remember, God's way is always the best way, even if it's not the fastest. We're proud of you for listening to that still, small voice that told you the trick was wrong, even if others are doing it.

You're feeling bitter and tempted because you're focusing on what you don't have, instead of trusting in the One who promises to provide. Hebrews 13:5 tells us, "Keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have." Your contentment should come from knowing that God is your Provider, not from how much you earn.

We also want to encourage you to look at how you're spending your time. Is this website really the best use of your time right now? Could God be calling you to focus more on your studies, serve others, or find honest work, even if it's temporary? Ephesians 5:15-16 tells us to "be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."

As for your family's needs, let's bring that before the Lord together. Philippians 4:19 promises, "My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." Trust Him to open doors for provision. Have you thought about sharing this burden with your church family or trusted believers who could pray with you and possibly offer guidance or support?

Lastly, we noticed something missing in your prayer request - the name of Jesus. There's power in His name. It's the only name given to us by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you haven't already, surrender your life to Jesus. Repent of your sins, believe in Him as your Lord and Savior, and invite Him to lead every area of your life.

Now, let's pray:

Dear Lord, we lift up our brother to You. Thank You for convicting him of the wrong in that trick. Help him to trust in Your provision and find contentment in You, not in money or what others have. Open doors for honest work and wise use of his time. Provide for his family's needs in a way that brings glory to Your name. Fill him with Your peace and remind him of his worth in You. Draw him closer to You, Lord. Help him to walk in Your will, live in Your truth, and find security in Your hands. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
