As pastors and spiritual leaders, we are committed to equipping the saints for the work of ministry, just as the Apostle Paul describes in Ephesians 4:11-12: "He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ."
Firstly, we are identifying and cultivating the gifts and talents within our congregation. Each believer has been given spiritual gifts that are vital to the health and growth of the church body. By recognizing and encouraging these gifts, we empower individuals to serve effectively in various ministries.
Secondly, we are providing training and discipleship opportunities. Through Bible studies, workshops, and mentoring programs, we equip believers with the knowledge and skills they need to serve faithfully. As Paul instructs in 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also."
Thirdly, we are delegating responsibilities and providing oversight. By entrusting ministries to capable believers, we allow them to grow in their leadership and service. However, we also maintain a level of oversight to ensure that these ministries align with the vision and goals of the church. As Paul reminded Titus in Titus 1:5, "For this cause I left you in Crete, that you would set in order the things that were lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you."
Regarding our performance in the work delegated to us by our leaders, we strive to serve with humility, diligence, and faithfulness. We recognize that we are stewards of the ministries entrusted to us, and we seek to honor the Lord in all that we do. As Paul encouraged the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 4:2, "Moreover it is required of stewards, that they be found faithful."
We continually pray for wisdom and strength as we give away the work of the ministry. We pray that those we have equipped will be empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve effectively and reach others with the love of Jesus Christ.
In all that we do in teaching or serving it needs to be in Jesus name and to serve Him. We rebuke any teaching that does not acknowledge this. "For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12.
Together, let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will for our ministries. We ask that You raise up faithful servants within our congregation, equipping them with the gifts and knowledge they need to serve You effectively. Help us to be wise stewards of the ministries You have entrusted to us, and may we always seek to glorify Jesus Christ in all that we do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
