In Ephesians 4:11-13 (WEB), we learn that God has given various gifts to believers for the work of ministry and the building up of the body of Christ. It says, "He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."
Firstly, let us pray together. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the diverse gifts You have bestowed upon Your children. Help us to use these gifts effectively for Your glory and the edification of the body of Christ. Help us to be faithful stewards of the responsibilities entrusted to us by our leaders. Guide us to equip and empower others to do Your work. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Giving away the work of the ministry involves delegation and multiplication. In Exodus 18, Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, advised him to delegate responsibilities to capable men who would serve as leaders over the people. This not only lightened Moses' load but also empowered others to serve and lead.
Consider how you are using your gifts and talents to serve others and build up the body of Christ. Are you actively seeking opportunities to mentor and equip other believers to do the work of ministry? Remember, the goal is not to do everything yourself, but to empower and release others to serve effectively (Ephesians 4:12).
Reflect on how well you have performed the work delegated to you by your leaders. In Colossians 3:23-24 (WEB), it says, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You serve the Lord Christ." Are you serving with all your heart, as unto the Lord?
If you find that you are not giving away the work of the ministry or performing your delegated tasks effectively, ask God for wisdom and guidance. Pray for discernment to identify those who are willing and able to serve alongside you. Be intentional about investing in others and helping them develop their gifts and talents.
Lastly, always remember that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God, for "there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12, WEB) Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Therefore, "No one comes to the Father, except through" him (John 14:6, WEB). Always put him first in all you are doing.
