In the Bible, both Joshua and Jesus demonstrate the importance of delegation in ministry. Joshua, as Moses' successor, delegated tasks to the leaders of the tribes of Israel (Numbers 27:18-23). Similarly, Jesus sent out His disciples to preach, heal, and cast out demons (Luke 9:1-6, Luke 10:1-20).
Let's first address the delegation of tasks to other believers. As followers of Christ, we are all part of the Body of Christ, and each of us has been given spiritual gifts to use for the benefit of the Church (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). Delegation is not just about lightening our load but empowering others to use their gifts and fostering a sense of shared responsibility in the ministry. It is important you are delegating tasks.
We need to honestly assess how well we have performed the work entrusted to us by our leaders. If you do not know what your gifts are, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal them to us. The Bible tells us that "whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men" (Colossians 3:23 WEB). We should strive to serve with excellence, remembering that our ultimate accountability is to God.
We encourage you to pray for discernment to know which tasks to delegate and to whom. Ask God to raise up more workers for the harvest, as the fields are ripe (Matthew 9:37-38). Pray for wisdom to effectively train and support those to whom you delegate tasks.
We also pray for humility and a teachable spirit, that we may receive instruction and correction from our leaders as we carry out the work they have entrusted to us. We pray for diligence and faithfulness in our service, that we may hear the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your Lord" (Matthew 25:21 WEB).
We also pray for your faith in Jesus. It is only by faith in the name of Jesus we have access to God. If you believe in Jesus you will be saved. If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
