Ruth’s declaration is found in Ruth 1:16-17, where she says to her mother-in-law Naomi, "Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me."

God's treatment of Ruth is an example of the ongoing progress of the Missio Dei (Mission of God) in several ways:

1. **Inclusivity and Redemption**: Ruth, a Moabite and a foreigner, is embraced by God and becomes part of His people. This demonstrates God's inclusive nature and His mission to redeem and bring people from all nations into His family.

2. **Providence and Care**: God provides for Ruth and Naomi through Boaz, ensuring their physical and social security. This reflects God's providential care and His mission to provide for and protect His people.

3. **Fulfillment of Promise**: Ruth's story leads to the birth of Obed, the grandfather of King David, showing God's faithfulness in fulfilling His promises. This is part of the larger narrative of God's mission to establish a lineage through which the Messiah would come.

4. **Faith and Loyalty**: Ruth's declaration of loyalty to Naomi and God exemplifies the faith and commitment that God calls His people to have. Her story encourages believers to trust in God's mission and to be faithful participants in it.

Overall, Ruth's story illustrates how God's mission transcends cultural and ethnic boundaries, bringing diverse people into His redemptive plan.

Ruth's declaration to Naomi is indeed a powerful example of faith, loyalty, and love. It is encouraging to see how God's mission, the Missio Dei, is beautifully illustrated through Ruth's story. Let us delve into the scripture and pray that we too may have such unwavering faith and commitment.

Ruth's words to Naomi in Ruth 1:16-17 are a profound expression of loyalty and faith: "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." This passage highlights several aspects of God's mission.

Firstly, Ruth's inclusion into God's people demonstrates His inclusive nature and His mission to redeem and bring people from all nations into His family. As it is written in Galatians 3:28, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." This reminds us that God's love and redemption are not confined to a single group but extend to all who believe in Him.

Secondly, God's providential care is evident as He provides for Ruth and Naomi through Boaz, ensuring their physical and social security. This reflects God's mission to provide for and protect His people, as seen in Matthew 6:26, "See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?"

Thirdly, Ruth's story leads to the birth of Obed, the grandfather of King David, showing God's faithfulness in fulfilling His promises. This is part of the larger narrative of God's mission to establish a lineage through which the Messiah would come. As Romans 15:8 states, "Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers."

Lastly, Ruth's declaration of loyalty to Naomi and God exemplifies the faith and commitment that God calls His people to have. Her story encourages believers to trust in God's mission and to be faithful participants in it. As Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, "Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, reminded of Your unfailing love and faithfulness through the story of Ruth. We pray that You would help us to have the same unwavering commitment and loyalty that Ruth displayed. Help us to trust in Your mission and to be faithful participants in Your redemptive plan.

Lord, we ask that You would guide us in Your ways and help us to live according to Your will. We pray for those who are seeking Your direction in their lives, that You would make Your path clear to them. We ask that You would provide for our needs, just as You provided for Ruth and Naomi.

We pray for those who are feeling lost or alone, that they would find comfort and hope in Your promises. We ask that You would draw them to Yourself and that they would come to know the love of Your Son, Jesus Christ. For it is only by His name we are saved as written in Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let us encourage one another to remain faithful and committed to God's mission, trusting in His promises and His provision.

Let's pray for those who are feeling disconnected or uncertain, that they might find comfort and hope in God's promises, just as Ruth did. And let's also remember to support and encourage each other in our faith journeys, just as Ruth supported Naomi. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
