Faithful Servant
Father, I thank You for every way that You have touched our lives. Everytime that I have ever tried to do anything on my own, it has led to a deadend. The life that I was weaving for myself in my image of my life, my view of life, has all these loose ends. I thank You Lord for taking these loose ends, sometimes tugging part of them loose from the cloth, unraveling them, and beginning to weave them back in Your image for my life. I thank You for giving me this view of what You are doing in my life, and in the lives of others who are calling upon You. There are painful threads that are run through this cloth Lord, but I can see how they are also interwoven with threads of love and of discipline, all coming together to make the tapestry that You would have my life to be. They are also interwoven throughout with cords that have been stained red with Your blood, these are also the cords that show the love You have worked into each of our lives. I thank You Lord for this diligent craftsmanship You have displayed, the work of a master craftsman. May we all have the faith to quit worrying about how every piece is worked in, and wait upon You to show us the completed work. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Just a little earlier, before this prayer, the thought of this tapestry came to my mind. How we try and weave our own life, in our own likeness of what we think it should be. When we ask God to help us in this life, sometimes He has to undo part of what we have started, taking the loose and frayed ends, pointing out in so many direction, looking like a school project that our kids may have gotten overwhelmed with, and start to reweave it in the pattern that He has in mind. He keeps the same threads, even the ones that make up our old lives, and weaves them in a different pattern, bringing to view more of the red threads that show His blood and love for us. They were there all the time, we just had them hid by bringing to the front more of our own threads and less of His. When He starts this new cloth, we sometimes complain how it hurts as He unweaves the parts that need it, and then we want to see how each and every piece fits together with one another. Just like any great work of art, it is impossible to take a snapshot of one small area and see how the whole piece will turn out. Especially when we have no idea what the finished peice is supposed to look like. He was telling me, and perhaps some on here, that our job is just to let Him do the work, put our trust in Him, let Him do the unraveling, after all it was us that put it in the wrong order anyway, and then let Him bring it to completion. The more we leave Him to do the work, the faster it will get done and the more beautiful it will be. I hope that this touched something in Your soul, sometimes He has to draw me a picture for me to understand.
