Sweet Reassurance (Nov 14th)

Verse
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."

Revelation 14:13 nkjv

Thought
Jesus talked about the Holy Spirit as The Comforter and promised the Spirit's abiding and comforting presence within us (John 14-16). Paul talked about the Holy Spirit as the assurance of our sharing with Jesus in heaven (2 Corinthians 1:22; 2 Corinthians 5:5). To these great promises, I add today's verse, one of the most comforting verses for me as I help people in their times of grief. Those who have lived for Jesus are given two promises by the Spirit. First, they will enjoy the rest of God. Second, what they have done for the Lord will be remembered by the one who matters most. What we do for Jesus matters eternally, and it will not be forgotten! (Hebrews 6:10).

Prayer
O Father, I thank you for your great and matchless promises. Today, I am especially thankful for those promises that are tied to the Holy Spirit — the comfort and assurance the Spirit brings to my heart. May I live with confidence because of the certainty I have through the Holy Spirit who lives in me, brings comfort to me, and promises me your gracious appreciation of what I have done to honor Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
