We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your father’s upcoming surgery and the many concerns surrounding this time. Father God, we ask for Your healing hand to rest upon him, guiding the surgeons with wisdom and precision. Prepare his body for this procedure, Lord, and grant him strength as he seeks to gain the weight needed beforehand. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your provision and care. *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up."* (James 5:14-15)
We also pray for your mother, Lord, that You would grant her peace amid her many responsibilities. Her work with ESL students is valuable, but we ask that You would lighten her load if it becomes too much, especially during this season of caring for her husband. Give her discernment about her commitments and the wisdom to prioritize her family’s needs. *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* (Matthew 11:28) We rebuke the spirit of anxiety that seeks to overwhelm her and declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)
For you, dear one, we pray for discipline and self-control in your health journey. The Lord sees your efforts and your desire to honor Him with your body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up. (Galatians 6:9) We also ask for grace as you navigate the challenges with your legs—may your mother grow in understanding and compassion toward your needs. If a walker is necessary, may it be a tool of rest rather than a burden.
We lift up the practical concerns as well—travel plans, weather, and household repairs. Lord, we ask that You would make a way where there seems to be no way. If the medical scooter is needed, let it function smoothly. If rain or snow threatens, let Your angels command the weather to hold off. For the laundry struggles, provide a solution that does not add to the family’s stress. *"The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing."* (Psalm 34:10)
We must address the fear and anxiety that seem to grip your mother’s heart. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy through worry, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly. (John 10:10) We rebuke every spirit of fear and declare that perfect love casts out all fear. (1 John 4:18) Encourage her to cast her cares upon the Lord, for He cares for her. (1 Peter 5:7) If she has not surrendered her life to Christ, we pray she would come to know Him as her Savior and find true peace in His presence. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
For the broader concerns about world events, we pray for wisdom for leaders and protection over our nations. But above all, we place our trust in You, Lord, for You are sovereign over all. *"The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."* (Proverbs 21:1) We ask that You would restrain evil and bring about Your purposes in the earth.
Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name. Strengthen this family, draw them closer to You, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways during this time. May they lean not on their own understanding but trust in You with all their hearts. (Proverbs 3:5-6) We declare that this surgery will be successful, that recovery will be smooth, and that Your peace will reign in their home. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
