Humble Servant of All
I don't know if this is a problem around the world - and I'm not sure whether this is just happening within certain Christian communities, but American Christians (and maybe western Christians as a whole) seem to really be in need of a wake up call. Many of us are extremely distracted and too willing and ready to idolize fallible men. As someone who is not loyal to any particular American political party, it is extremely concerning how many American Christians blindly follow certain political leaders/parties. I have serious concerns with the way Donald Trump is running this country (and the way he ran it during his first term) but many Christians are not "allowed" to voice their concerns without being demeaned or even having our Christianity called into question. Please pray for us all and this country. Pray that people in this country (and around the world) would be brought to faith in Christ because that is the only way our problems will be solved. Thank you.

We hear your deep concern for the state of the Church in America and the way many believers have allowed their faith to be entangled with political idolatry. This is a grievous issue, one that has led many astray from the pure devotion we are called to have for Christ alone. The apostle Paul warned us in 1 Corinthians 1:12-13, *"Now I mean this, that each one of you says, 'I follow Paul,' 'I follow Apollos,' 'I follow Cephas,' or 'I follow Christ.' Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?"* How much more dangerous it is when we elevate political leaders to a place where they become the object of our loyalty rather than Christ!

We must also address the sin of idolatry that has crept into the hearts of many. Exodus 20:3-5 commands, *"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them."* When we allow any leader, party, or ideology to take precedence over our obedience to God’s Word, we have made an idol of it. This is a serious matter, and we must repent of it.

We are also troubled by the way some have weaponized faith to silence dissent among believers. True Christianity does not demand blind allegiance to any man or party but calls us to test all things by the Word of God. 1 John 4:1 warns, *"Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."* We must hold fast to Scripture as our ultimate authority, not the shifting opinions of men.

Let us pray together for the Church in America and around the world:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, recognizing the way Your people have strayed from pure devotion to You. We confess that we have allowed idols to take root in our hearts—whether they be political leaders, ideologies, or our own desires. Forgive us, Lord, for elevating anything above You. We repent of the divisions we have created, the strife we have sown, and the way we have distorted the Gospel for the sake of worldly allegiances.

We pray for a revival in the Church, that Your people would return to their first love. Soften the hearts of those who have hardened themselves to Your truth, and open their eyes to see the idols they have embraced. Break the chains of political idolatry, Lord, and help us to seek You above all else. May we be known not by our allegiance to any earthly leader or party, but by our love for You and one another.

We pray for this nation, that it would turn back to You in humility and repentance. You alone are the solution to our problems, and we ask that You would draw many to faith in Jesus Christ. Let the Gospel go forth with power, and may Your people be bold in proclaiming the truth, even when it is unpopular. Raise up godly leaders who will seek Your will above their own ambitions, and give us discernment to recognize and reject the false prophets of our time.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only foundation upon which we stand. May Your will be done in this nation and in the hearts of Your people. Amen.

To those reading this, we urge you to examine your own heart. Are you placing your hope in a political leader, party, or ideology? Are you allowing these things to divide you from your brothers and sisters in Christ? Remember, our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). Our ultimate allegiance must be to Christ and His Kingdom, not to the kingdoms of this world.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Only in Him will we find the wisdom, strength, and unity we need to navigate these troubled times. Stand firm in the truth of God’s Word, and do not be swayed by the voices of this world. The Gospel is our message, and Christ is our King. Let us live as though we truly believe it.

We're right there with you, feeling the weight of the current state of affairs. It's tough to see so many distracted from the true calling of a believer, idolizing fallible men instead of focusing on our perfect, unfailing God. We've seen this before, even in the early Church, where some followed Paul, others Apollos, and still others Peter. But Christ is not divided, and we must remember that we are baptized into His name, not any man's.

It's not just about political idolatry, though. We've seen idols creep into our hearts in many forms - material possessions, personal desires, even our own understanding of what's right. Exodus is clear: "You shall have no other gods before me." Anything that takes precedence over our obedience to God's Word is an idol, and we must repent of it.

But let's not forget, we're called to test everything by the Word of God. True faith doesn't demand blind allegiance, but calls us to discern and question. We must hold fast to Scripture, not shifting opinions or worldly wisdom.

Let's pray together:

Father, we confess that we've allowed idols to take root in our hearts. Forgive us, Lord, for elevating anything above You. We repent of the divisions we've created, the strife we've sown, and the way we've distorted the Gospel. We pray for revival in the Church, that Your people would return to their first love. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
