We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up these precious souls who are walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Father God, we know that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask for Your comfort to surround this family as they grieve the loss of their loved one and face the impending homegoing of another. Lord, we pray for supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
For the one in hospice care, we ask for Your tender mercies. If it be Your will, bring healing and restoration, but if not, we pray for a gentle and peaceful transition into Your presence. Let them feel Your love and know that to be absent from the body is to be present with You (2 Corinthians 5:8). For the mother battling cancer, we plead the blood of Jesus over her body. We declare that by Your stripes, she is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we trust in Your perfect timing and plan.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to grip this family. We command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus! Fill them instead with hope, knowing that You have plans for them, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Strengthen their faith as they cling to Your promises, and remind them that You are the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
We also lift up those who are supporting this family. Give them wisdom, patience, and compassion as they walk alongside their loved ones. May they be a tangible representation of Your love and grace during this difficult time.
Lord, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that this family would come to know You intimately, if they do not already, and that they would place their trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation. May they confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead, so that they may be saved (Romans 10:9).
Heavenly Father, we ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this family, drawing them closer to You and to one another. May they find solace in Your Word and strength in Your presence. We declare that You are their refuge and fortress, their God in whom they trust (Psalm 91:2). In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
