We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is feeling such deep despair. Father, we know that You are the God of all comfort, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and heals the wounds of the soul. We ask that You would draw near to this dear one in this moment of darkness, reminding them of Your unfailing love and the hope that is found only in You.
Lord, Your Word tells us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." We cling to this promise and ask that You would make Your presence known in a powerful way. Surround this one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Help them to sense Your love and the value You place on their life, for You created them fearfully and wonderfully, and Your plans for them are for good and not for harm.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for those who can come alongside this individual—trusted friends, family, pastors, or mental health professionals who can offer godly counsel and support. Proverbs 11:14 reminds us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Lord, raise up people who will speak life, hope, and truth into this situation, pointing them back to You as the source of all strength.
Father, we must also address the weight of this request with the truth of Your Word. While we understand that suffering can feel unbearable, we know that You alone hold the power over life and death. Your Word declares in Deuteronomy 32:39, "See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand." We ask that You would intervene in this situation, not according to our desires, but according to Your perfect will. If it is Your will to bring healing and restoration, we pray for that miracle. If it is Your will to call this one home, we trust in Your mercy and grace, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with You.
However, we must also rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that this life is not their own; it was bought with the precious blood of Christ, and it belongs to You. We pray against any lies from the enemy that would tell them their life has no purpose or that ending it would bring peace. Instead, we speak Your truth over them: that You have a plan and a purpose for their life, even in the midst of pain.
If this dear one does not yet know You as their personal Lord and Savior, we pray that this would be the moment of salvation. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, drawing them into a relationship with You, where they can find true peace, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Lord, we also pray for divine intervention in their circumstances. If there is physical pain, we ask for Your healing touch. If there is emotional pain, we ask for Your comfort and the peace that only You can give. If there is loneliness, we pray that You would surround them with Your presence and with people who will love and support them. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).
We lift all of this to You, Father, trusting in Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your perfect plan. May this one come to know You more deeply through this trial, and may they find their hope and strength in You alone. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
