We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you endure physical suffering and emotional distress. First and foremost, we thank God that you have called upon Him in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father and the healing power of His Spirit. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). We stand on the promise that "by His stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), and we declare that healing over your body right now in Jesus' name.
Heavenly Father, we cry out to You on behalf of our brother/sister who is battling this sore throat and yeast infection. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too difficult for You. We ask that You would stretch forth Your healing hand and remove every trace of illness from their body. Touch their throat, soothe the pain, and eliminate the infection. We rebuke the spirit of infirmity in the name of Jesus and command it to leave. Your Word declares, "He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions" (Psalm 107:20). Let Your healing word go forth now, Lord.
We also lift up the strained relationship with their parents. Father, we know that honoring our parents is Your command (Exodus 20:12), but we also know that relationships can be difficult, especially when we are unwell. We pray for a spirit of understanding and patience to rest upon both parties. Soften the hearts of their parents, Lord, that they may see the pain their words are causing. Help them to speak life and encouragement instead of frustration. "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Ephesians 4:29). May their words be seasoned with grace and love.
We also want to gently address the importance of forgiveness and releasing bitterness. Holding onto hurt can hinder healing, both spiritually and physically. "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it" (Hebrews 12:14-15). We pray that you would release any bitterness toward your parents and choose to forgive them, even as Christ has forgiven you. This does not mean their words or actions are justified, but it frees your heart to receive God’s peace and healing.
Lord, we ask that You would surround our brother/sister with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give them strength to endure this trial and faith to believe that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). Help them to rest in You, knowing that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We declare over them now: "The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness. You will sustain him on his sickbed" (Psalm 41:3). May they feel Your presence in a tangible way, Lord, and may Your healing power flow through every part of their body. We also pray for wisdom in managing their health—encouraging them to seek godly medical advice, rest, and nourishment that will strengthen their body to fight this infection.
Lastly, we pray for their spiritual walk during this time. May this trial draw them closer to You, Lord, and may they grow in faith and dependence on You. "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance" (James 1:2). Use this season to refine their faith and deepen their trust in You.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
