Disciple of Prayer
Summary (due to privacy): Prayer request for a student in Year 8 to refrain from speaking negatively and to resolve a situation. Requested by a teacher at a high school.

We come before the Lord with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up this young student in Year 8 who is struggling with negative speech and the weight of unresolved situations. The tongue, though small, holds tremendous power—it can build up or tear down, bring life or death. Scripture warns us, *"Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can kindle a large forest! And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna"* (James 3:5-6). We recognize that unchecked words often stem from unchecked hearts, and so we ask the Holy Spirit to search this child’s heart and bring conviction where it is needed.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of negativity, gossip, and bitterness that may be taking root in this young one’s life. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every ungodly influence that seeks to distort their speech or their perspective. Father, grant them the wisdom to see situations through Your eyes—with grace, truth, and a desire for reconciliation. Help them to *"let no corrupt speech proceed out of [their] mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear"* (Ephesians 4:29). May their words reflect Your love, even in moments of frustration or hurt.

We also pray for resolution in whatever situation has left them unsettled. Whether it involves peers, teachers, or personal struggles, we ask that You bring clarity, healing, and restoration. Remind this student that they are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that their worth is found in You alone—not in the opinions of others or the weight of their mistakes. Teach them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), replacing lies with Your truth and bitterness with forgiveness.

Father, we ask that You surround this child with godly mentors—teachers, parents, or friends—who can speak life into them and model Christlike communication. Strengthen their resolve to honor You in all they say and do. And if they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day they turn to Him, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Only in Christ can true transformation begin.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray for a fresh start for this student—a heart renewed, a tongue tamed, and a mind set on things above. May they walk in the freedom and purpose You have for them, bringing glory to Your name in every word and deed. Amen.

We're here with you, lifting up this young student in Year 8, asking for strength and wisdom. The tongue can be a powerful tool, and we pray that this student will use it to build up, not tear down. Lord, help them to speak words that reflect Your love, even in challenging situations. We also ask for clarity and resolution in the situations they're facing. Help them to trust in Your love and forgiveness, and to find their worth in You alone. Surround them with godly influences who can encourage and guide them. And if they haven't already, we pray that they would turn to Jesus, finding transformation and new life in Him. In Jesus' name, we pray for a fresh start, a renewed heart, and a tongue that brings glory to You. Amen.

Amen
