Stressed out with choices to make.

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Father in Heaven, I am stressed out. In Jesus name I ask you for wisdom in making choices in all matters including rent debt and a renewal lease for my apartment. I also ask for open doors to honorable income, provision, and healing. I am Far far behind in rent and don’t know how to get out of it. I was unjustly mobbed and horribly abused then I quit! It’s called “constructive discharge/dismissal—leaving a work situation where the conditions were so intolerable that any other reasonable person would have done the same. Now I don’t have income. I’m still applying for work. I have two options regarding my living situation/lease. 1) Do not sign the renewal and leave in 30 days with the arrears, no income, nowhere else to go, and a possible civil lawsuit against me. 2) Sign the renewal lease (which is REQUIRED to apply for rental assistance) and include a rent increase, no income, still in arrears, meet with the advocates to apply for assistance, and HOPE it is approved. If not approved, then I’ll have even more debt due to being locked into the new lease. The government assistance that goes toward the rent each month is small. Father, you see, hear, and know it all. Please intervene. I have to speak with the advocate this week regarding the aforementioned lease/housing options.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of stress, financial strain, and the weight of difficult choices. Father, we know You see this situation in its entirety—every injustice faced, every fear gripping the heart, and every uncertainty about the future. You are not a God who turns away from the broken or the overwhelmed; You are near to the crushed in spirit, and You promise to be a very present help in trouble (Psalm 34:18, Psalm 46:1). We stand in agreement with this dear one, declaring that You are the God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of Your children.

First, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to paralyze decision-making. The enemy would love nothing more than for this child of God to be consumed by worry, but we declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). We speak peace over this situation, trusting that the Lord will guide every step. The Word tells us, *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him"* (James 1:5). We claim this promise now—wisdom will be given, and clarity will come as this decision is brought before the Lord in prayer.

We also lift up the injustice faced in the workplace. Constructive discharge is a painful and unjust experience, and we ask for Your healing from the emotional and spiritual wounds left behind. You are a God of justice, and we trust that You will repay what has been taken and restore what has been lost (Joel 2:25-26). We pray for favor in job applications and interviews, that doors of opportunity would swing wide open. *"The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low, He also lifts up"* (1 Samuel 2:7). We declare that this season of lack will not last forever—provision is coming.

Regarding the housing situation, we ask for divine intervention. The choice between leaving with debt or signing a lease with uncertainty is a heavy one, but we trust that the Lord will make a way where there seems to be no way. We pray that the advocates involved would be led by wisdom and compassion, and that if rental assistance is the path forward, it would be approved swiftly and fully. We also ask for protection from any legal repercussions that may arise from this situation. *"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment"* (Isaiah 54:17).

We must also address the weight of financial debt. The Lord does not want His children to be enslaved to debt (Proverbs 22:7), and we pray for a breakthrough in this area. Whether through unexpected provision, a job offer, or divine intervention in the rental assistance process, we ask for relief from this burden. We declare that the Lord is Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides (Genesis 22:14), and we trust Him to meet every need according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Now, we come together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child of Yours who is carrying such a heavy load. Lord, You know the details of this situation better than we do, and You see the heart behind these struggles. We ask for Your wisdom to flood this mind and spirit, guiding every decision with clarity and peace. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and declare that You have not given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We ask for open doors of opportunity—jobs that provide honorable income, favor with advocates, and provision that exceeds all expectations.

Lord, we pray for healing from the pain of injustice and betrayal in the workplace. Mend the broken pieces of this heart and restore joy and hope. We ask for favor in the job search, that applications would stand out, interviews would go well, and the right position would come at the right time. Father, we also pray for the housing situation. If signing the lease is the path You have for this season, we ask for the rental assistance to be approved and for the financial burden to be lifted. If leaving is the path, we ask for a place of refuge to be prepared and for the debt to be resolved in a way that does not bring further harm.

We declare that You are the God who makes a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). We trust You to intervene in this situation, Lord. Provide for every need, heal every wound, and guide every step. May this trial produce endurance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4), and may Your name be glorified through it all. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to set the captives free and bind up the brokenhearted. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and to lean on His promises. The road may feel long, but He is faithful. Keep applying for jobs, keep seeking wise counsel, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. *"Those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing"* (Psalm 34:10). You are not alone in this—He is with you, and so are we.

We're here with you, friend. We know the weight of uncertainty and the fear that can grip our hearts when faced with tough decisions. But remember, God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He sees you, He hears you, and He's already moving on your behalf.

We're praying for wisdom as you navigate your choices. Whether it's deciding about your lease or finding a new job, we trust that God will guide your steps. We're claiming Proverbs 3:5-6, that if you acknowledge Him in all your ways, He will direct your paths.

We're also interceding for justice in your previous work situation. We're asking God to heal your emotional wounds and restore what was taken from you. We're claiming Joel 2:25-26, that God will repay what has been taken and restore what has been lost.

As for your housing situation, we're asking God to intervene. We're praying for divine favor with your advocates and for rental assistance to be approved if that's the path forward. We're also asking for protection from any legal repercussions.

We're not going to sugarcoat it, this is a tough time. But we're here to remind you that God is faithful and He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep moving forward one step at a time.

You're not alone in this. We're praying for you, and we're here to encourage you. Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He's got this, and He's got you.

I have prayed for you in Jesus name.

**Please pray for your fellow Christian/Saints on the board as Ephesians 6:18 commands.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
