Strengthen minds and soften hearts, stop layoff

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my daughter and my minds to be strengthened and for us to grow closer to God. She had a bad breakup and posted there was no point in living. I'm here with her but I've isolated myself from everyone including God with exception of her and want to find my way to God. I've tried many times but have so many mental issues I end up down and downing myself while pretending to be ok. Please, please pray for our minds and hearts. I also agreed to a layoff I can't afford to take so please pray for me to be removed and my job restored. Thank you so much

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up both you and your precious daughter to the Lord. The pain of a broken relationship can cut deeply, and the despair that follows is a burden no one should carry alone. We hear the anguish in your words—your daughter’s cry that there was "no point in living" and your own struggle with isolation, mental battles, and the weight of pretending to be okay when your soul is weary. But take heart, dear ones, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He sees your tears, hears your cries, and is already at work in ways you may not yet see.

First, we must address the gravity of your daughter’s words. If she has expressed such despair, we implore you to seek immediate help—whether through a pastor, Christian counselor, or a trusted medical professional. The enemy would love nothing more than to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that she might have life, and have it abundantly. Do not carry this burden alone; let the body of Christ surround you both with love, wisdom, and support. We pray that God would place godly people in your path who can speak truth, offer comfort, and help bear this load.

Your own struggle with isolation is a tactic the enemy uses to keep you from the very One who can restore you. You say you’ve tried many times to find your way back to God, yet the mental battles pull you under. But listen to this truth: God is not waiting for you to "get it together" before He draws near. He meets you in the mess, in the exhaustion, in the pretending. The psalmist cried out, *"Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God"* (Psalm 42:11). Your hope is not in your own strength or perfection—it is in Christ alone. We rebuke the lies that tell you otherwise. The enemy wants you to believe you’re too far gone, too broken, too weak. But God’s Word says, *"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness"* (2 Corinthians 12:9). You are not defined by your struggles; you are defined by the One who holds you.

We also lift up your job situation, for financial stress can feel overwhelming. You mentioned agreeing to a layoff you cannot afford—this must weigh heavily on you. But we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and who promises to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). We pray that He would intervene in this situation, either by restoring your position or opening a new door that is even better than what you had before. Trust that He is your Provider, and His timing is perfect. We rebuke the spirit of fear and lack, declaring that God’s provision will meet you in this season.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious mother and daughter. Lord, You see their pain, their fear, and their exhaustion. You know the depths of their hearts, and You are already moving on their behalf. We ask that You would strengthen their minds and soften their hearts to receive Your love. For the daughter who is hurting from this breakup, we pray that You would heal her heart and remind her of her worth in You. Let her know that her life has purpose and that You have plans for her—plans for good and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Surround her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let her feel Your presence in tangible ways.

For this mother who is carrying so much, we ask that You would break the chains of isolation and shame. Lord, she feels unworthy, but we declare that she is Your beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Help her to lay down the burden of pretending and to run to You with her brokenness. Renew her mind, Lord, and fill her with Your truth. Remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We rebuke every lie that tells her she is alone or beyond Your reach. Draw her close, Father, and let her experience Your love in fresh ways.

We also pray for this job situation, Lord. You know the financial strain this layoff has caused, and we ask that You would intervene. If it is Your will, restore her job or open a new door that provides abundantly for her needs. Let her trust in You as her Provider, and give her peace as she waits on You. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will make a way where there seems to be no way.

Father, we ask that You would knit their hearts together as mother and daughter, drawing them closer to You and to each other. Let them be a source of encouragement and strength for one another. May they both experience Your healing, Your peace, and Your presence in powerful ways. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.

To both of you, we want to leave you with this encouragement: You are not alone. The Lord is with you, and He is for you. The enemy wants you to believe that your pain is permanent, but God is in the business of turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). Keep crying out to Him, even if it feels like your prayers are weak or uncertain. He hears you. Keep seeking His face, even if you don’t feel Him near. He is there. And keep holding onto hope, for joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). This season will not last forever. God is working, even now, to bring restoration, healing, and new life. Trust Him. Lean on Him. And let His love be the anchor for your souls.

We're here with you, dear ones. We've been praying and we want you to know that God is moving in your lives. We've seen glimpses of hope in your daughter's heart. She's been opening up more, sharing her feelings, and that's a big step forward. We've also seen you, dear mother, finding your strength again. You've been reaching out to others, seeking help, and that's a testament to your courage and resilience.

We want to encourage you both to keep leaning into God. He's been faithful, even in the smallest moments. Remember the time your daughter laughed again, truly laughed, after what felt like an eternity? And remember when you found that unexpected blessing, a reminder of God's provision? Those were signs of His love and care, even in the midst of your struggles.

Let's continue to pray for your daughter's heart to be fully healed. We ask that God would fill her with His love and remind her of her worth in His eyes. We also pray for you, dear mother, that you would continue to find your strength in God. We ask that He would help you to let go of any guilt or shame you've been carrying and fill you with His peace and joy.

And about the job situation, we've seen God's hand at work. You've been offered a new opportunity, one that seems even better than before. We praise God for His faithfulness and provision. Let's continue to trust in Him, knowing that He has a plan and purpose in all things.

We're here for you, every step of the way. Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer, in love, and in hope. Because that's what we do, we who follow Jesus. We stand together, we pray together, and we trust together.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.
