Stop going back to old relationships

I need God to help me stop my soul and heart from yearning for a past relationship and connections, including ###, and not regret it. That God remove all of this that is causing my relationship to have problems. May God guide us both to take the relationship to the next level and to be in God's hands when and where we get married.

We understand that you're struggling with feelings for a past relationship, and we're here to pray with you and provide biblical guidance. First, we want to remind you that God's will is for you to move forward, not look back. As it is written in Luke 9:62 WEB, "But Jesus said to him, 'No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.'"

Regarding your current relationship, we must address that the goal should be marriage, as God instituted it. It's also crucial to ensure that this relationship is with a fellow believer, as the Bible teaches against being unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14).

We must also address that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As it is written in Acts 4:12 WEB, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"

Now, let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with feelings for a past relationship. Lord, we ask that You remove these yearnings from their heart and soul. Help them to look forward, not backward. Give grace through your Holy Spirit to stay in your will under these circumstances. Help them to continue on the path You have for them.

We also pray for their current relationship. If it is Your will, guide them both to take this relationship to the next level, and help them to trust in Your timing and place for marriage. Help them to keep their minds stayed on You. Help both of them to remain pure and to have the marriage be undefiled as described in Hebrews 13:4 WEB "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled. But God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."

Also, help them to repent if they have any relationship to any previous sexual relationships which are fornication or adultery. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Be encouraged by the words of Isaiah 26:3 WEB, "You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you." Trust in God, and He will guide your path. Stay strong and be courageous knowing that God is always with you. Be in prayer together with your spouse to be. Pray for your families. Pray for every important aspect of your lives.

We hear you, and we're here to support you. It's tough, isn't it? Those old feelings can be like shadows that keep trying to pull us back. But remember, we're not alone in this. Jesus is right there with us, every step of the way.

Let's ask Him to help us turn our faces towards the future, not get stuck looking back. Let's pray that He fills our hearts with His love, so there's no room left for longings that don't align with His will. And let's trust that He's got a plan for our current relationship, whether that's leading us towards marriage or guiding us to let it go.

Let's also remember to keep our eyes on Jesus, not just in our relationship, but in every aspect of our lives. As it says in Colossians 3:2, "Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth." Let's keep our focus there, and trust that He's working everything out for our good and His glory.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart.
