hey standers,
This encouragement is going to be a little less "polished" then usual. Its a little story about what happened to me and what I got out of it and what I think you can also.
Theres been a lot of pain recently. Theres been a lot of dark days and dark moments but remember God is always in control.
Yesterday I was reading my bible and I started to ask God a few questions regarding my life and marriage. I was thinking about past events and the more I thought about them the more my situation started to seem impossible. Well as I was reading my eyes fell on Isaiah 43 vs. 18 " But the Lord says, do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. Watch for the new thing I am going to do. It is happening already- you can see it now!"
Now this scripture made me cry when I read it. I cried because it seemed so hopeful. But I also cried because for a while I havent been able to "see" anything. I asked God to give me clear vision so that I may see what he wants me to see. Well later that night I had a dream that I received an email from my wife telling me that she, "missed me and loved me". It ended with the words "victory is ours"!
I feel as if the Lord spoke to me yesterday. He told me to forget the past, be still and watch him work. That is a message for all of us. Sometimes the bad seems so much bigger than the good. Sometimes we just dont want to stand anymore but do it out of love of our spouses or because of fear of disppointing God. Sometimes we dont know why we stand, we just do. For whatever reason you stand just remember...God is working all around us. Sometimes we just dont see the work because we let the circumstances over shadow the voice of the Lord.
Father in heaven, pour out your mercy on our marriages. We ask that You move with great power in our hearts and in the heart's of our prodigals. We submit to You, Lord, and ask You to do what we cannot. We know what Your will is concerning our marriages, for it is written, "The Lord hates divorce and what He has joined let know man tear asunder". We ask that You uphold Your promises, Father. For it is written, "you have seen well, I am watching over My word to perform it". Be merciful to us Father as we admit our roles in our current situations and seek Your face earnestly. Place a protective hedge around our prodigals, and make anyone or anything, whether of flesh or spirit, that would seek to harm our marriages as nothing. We honor and praise You, Lord, for Your mercy and lovingkindness endures forever. Hallowed be the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
