Dear Friends,
I come ot you in the precious name of our Blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
About twelve years ago, I became a part-owner of our family home with my two sisters. Two years after that one of them, a major share-holder, was incorrectly advised into not paying her portion of the various municipal taxes (rates). I, through unemployment, have also not been able to pay as regularly as I am supposed to. The result has been that the outstanding amount due to our local council has escalated to a frightening R30 000.00 (about $5 000). Three days ago, I received a letter of demand from the Council, stating that court action will be taken (and the house sold) to recover the debt, if the amount is not paid within twenty days.
I am obviously not in a position to pay them such a huge amount of money. If the house is sold, we will only receive a fraction of its real value, as property prices are down due current economic conditions. The sister who hasn’t been paying simply isn’t interested in the problem – and only seems interested in the meager amount of money she will receive if the home is sold.
I plan on meeting with the Council shortly, in an effort to reach an arrangement to pay the debt off.
1) Please, please, please stand with me in my prayers for understanding, mercy, compassion and generosity of heart by these officials, as I seek a resolution to the problem.
2) Please, please, please stand with me in my prayers for understanding, mercy, compassion and generosity of heart by those who I will be forced to approach for a loan, to settle this debt.
3) Please, please, please stand with me in my prayers for urgent, meaningful employment.
