STAND FOREVER – FIGHT FOR YOUR MARRIAGE!
"Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes!" 1 Samuel 12:16
Did you marry your spouse for life? Then stand forever! I know the circumstances you have now seem impossible, but believe in the power of your awesome God!
What if your spouse was in a serious accident, would you stand by them forever? If your spouse had cancer, would you stand by them forever? The problem that you have now is that your spouse has cancer of their soul and spirit. They have opened themselves up to sinful thoughts, to a sinful lifestyle and they have ignored and separated themselves from their own children and loved ones. They are disobedient and rebellious to their God that created them.
What can you do? Stand forever, praying and believing that your Lord God can do a miracle in your spouse's life. Ask the Lord what He wants you to do. Do not be afraid to seek the Lord and ask Him questions. I asked Him questions all the time, for directions, for signs and even asked Him to write on our family room wall, if necessary, so I would know for certain what He wanted me to do. He did something better, He started speaking to me through His Holy Word, which He did over and over again and still does to this day. Thank You, Lord!
"This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'" Jeremiah 33:2-3
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8
Do you know how many times the word "stand" is in the Bible? A stander wrote several years ago and said that he was feeling the attack of the enemy and decided to get some encouragement by looking up the word "stand" in the Bible. He went to the computer and looked up the word in the Bible and found 291 entries. Will you do that tonight and read many of the scriptures with the word "stand" in them? The scriptures will touch and heal your broken, wounded heart. God's Word never fails to minister hope and healing to your body, soul and spirit.
“‘If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.'" Isaiah 7:9
God does speak to His children. Do not give in to depression, oppression or hopelessness, but walk in faith, believing in the power of God. Will you start studying the Word of God daily? Ask your Lord to give you wisdom and direction as you read His Word.
Let me remind you of King Nebuchadnezzar who had a dream and he summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell them what he had dreamed. He wanted to know what it meant. They told the king that there was not a man on earth who could do what the king asked. The king became so angry that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon which included Daniel and his friends. Daniel heard about the problem and went to the king and asked for time, so that he could interpret the dream for him. Then he went to his three friends and explained the matter to them:
He urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king." Daniel 2:18-23
Daniel was in a life or death situation, but He knew His God could do anything. Do you? How big is your God? That was my problem when I divorced Bob. I did not know my Lord well enough to believe in His mighty power. That is often why standers give up, because they believe the enemy and their spouse's circumstances are greater than the God who created the Universe!
Let me share one of the names of God: Jehovah-El Elyon: The God Most High. El Elyon is the name that designates God as the sovereign ruler of all the universe. He is the One who rules today over the affairs of all men. Throughout the Bible we have stories about our Lord God speaking to His children, showing them things that only the Lord could know. That is why Daniel cried out seeking Jehovah-El Elyon to interpret Nebuchadnezzar's dream. God was faithful to His Name and revealed the mysteries of King Nebuchadnezzar's dreams and visions to Daniel.
As we approach this weekend, will you seek the Lord? Ask Him to show you a sign or a Word from the Lord. Will you fast and pray seeking to hear from the Lord only? Then after you have heard and "know that you know" that it was your Lord God, will you be obedient and "stand forever?" Do not be disobedient, but pray, fast and fight for your spouse who is deceived, blinded and is disobeying God. Your prayers will make a difference. Remember, Jesus is interceding for you in Heaven.
…Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Romans 8:34b
Will you pray every day and especially every weekend for the Holy Spirit to speak to your beloved spouse and all spouses and rebellious prodigals around the world? Jesus Christ paid the price on the Cross for your spouse and all your loved ones. Will you pray for a mighty harvest every Sunday? I pray that you will stand firm forever, never wavering, but saying,"I will never give up on my spouse or my God!"
"Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do." Isaiah 46:9-11
