We join with you in seeking the Lord’s face for stability, spiritual growth, and wisdom, for these are gifts He delights to give to those who ask in faith. Your heart’s cry aligns with Scripture, which tells us that God is the source of all wisdom and the one who establishes our steps when we trust in Him. Proverbs 2:6-7 declares, *"For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity."* What a promise! When we seek Him wholeheartedly, He does not withhold good things from us.
Your desire to hate sin is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in you, for it is only by His power that we can turn from wickedness and embrace righteousness. Psalm 97:10 reminds us, *"You who love Yahweh, hate evil! He preserves the souls of his saints. He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked."* This is not a hatred born of self-righteousness but a holy revulsion for what dishonors God—a mark of a heart being transformed by His grace. We must daily crucify the flesh, for the sin that so easily entangles us is deceptive and destructive. As Romans 12:9 urges, *"Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good."*
Yet we must also remember that our stability, growth, and wisdom are not found in our own strength but in abiding in Christ. Jesus Himself said in John 15:5, *"I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit; for apart from me you can do nothing."* If you feel unstable or lacking in wisdom, draw near to Him in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with believers who can sharpen you. James 1:5 promises, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* Ask boldly, believing that He hears and answers.
We also notice that while your prayer is earnest, it does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we are saved, and it is only through Jesus that our prayers reach the throne of God. As John 14:6 declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* And in John 16:23-24, Jesus assures us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* We encourage you to always pray in the name of Jesus, for it is by His authority and mediation that we approach God.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up your child before You, asking that You would grant them the stability that comes from being rooted and grounded in Your love. Lord, in a world that is ever-shifting, be their firm foundation, their unmovable Rock. We pray that You would deepen their faith, not by sight but by a steadfast trust in Your promises, even when circumstances seem uncertain. Fill them with Your wisdom, Lord—the wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy, as James 3:17 describes. May they walk in discernment, making choices that honor You and align with Your Word.
Father, we ask that You would cultivate in them a holy hatred for sin, not out of legalism but out of a love for You. Convict them by Your Spirit when they stray, and draw them back to repentance and restoration. Let them see sin as You see it—something that separates us from Your presence—and grant them the strength to flee from it. Clothe them in the armor of God, that they may stand firm against the schemes of the enemy.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who intercedes for us even now at Your right hand. May this brother or sister in Christ grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, walking worthy of the calling they have received. Strengthen them, encourage them, and let them know beyond a shadow of a doubt that You are with them always. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily through prayer, Scripture, and godly fellowship. Stability comes from consistency in the spiritual disciplines. Wisdom is found in the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10), and growth comes from abiding in His Word. If you have not already, consider memorizing Scripture to combat temptation and meditate on passages that speak to your specific needs. Surround yourself with believers who will spur you on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24). And always remember: the battle against sin is already won in Christ. You are not fighting for victory but from victory, for *"thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!"* (1 Corinthians 15:57). Stand firm in that truth!
