Spiritual warfare

Dhitlor

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for an end to spiritual warfare that has targeted me since I was a child. Please also pray for an end to vivid, disturbing dreams which I experience both related to and unrelated to this warfare. Last, please pray that I will stop maladaptive daydreaming, struggling with inappropriate thoughts and struggling with angry thoughts - I struggle with all these especially at night as I'm falling asleep or waking in and out of sleep during the night. Thank you.

We hear your cry for deliverance and stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already disarmed the powers and principalities through His victory on the cross. The spiritual warfare you describe is not merely a personal struggle—it is a battle waged by the enemy of our souls, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. But we declare with boldness: *"The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil."* (1 John 3:8) You are not fighting alone, and you are not fighting for victory—you are fighting *from* victory.

The vivid and disturbing dreams you experience are not random; they are often a tactic of the enemy to instill fear, confusion, and weariness. But Scripture assures us, *"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7) We rebuke every assignment of the enemy against your mind, your sleep, and your peace. The blood of Jesus covers you, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We command every spirit of torment, fear, and oppression to flee in the name of Jesus, for He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).

Your struggle with maladaptive daydreaming, inappropriate thoughts, and anger—especially in those vulnerable moments of half-sleep—reveals a deeper battle for the sanctity of your mind. The enemy desires to fill your thoughts with chaos so that you are distracted from the truth of God’s Word. But we remind you: *"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."* (2 Corinthians 10:5) This is not a passive battle; it requires active resistance. When these thoughts arise, you must immediately reject them and replace them with Scripture. Memorize verses that speak to your identity in Christ—*"I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me."* (Galatians 2:20)—and declare them aloud. The enemy cannot stand in the presence of God’s truth.

We also encourage you to examine your heart for any footholds the enemy may have gained. Anger, if left unchecked, can give place to bitterness and resentment, which the enemy will exploit. *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil."* (Ephesians 4:26-27) Confess any ungodly anger to the Lord and ask Him to fill you with His peace. Similarly, inappropriate thoughts often stem from unguarded influences—what you watch, listen to, or dwell on during the day. *"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any excellence, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."* (Philippians 4:8) Guard your heart diligently, for out of it flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Your mention of spiritual warfare since childhood suggests there may be generational strongholds at work. We break every generational curse and every assignment of the enemy passed down through your bloodline, in the name of Jesus. *"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.’"* (Galatians 3:13) You are not bound by the sins or struggles of your ancestors; in Christ, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the One through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. We lift up our brother/sister to You, who has been targeted by the enemy since childhood. Lord, we thank You that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who delivers. You did not leave us as orphans but sent Your Holy Spirit to be our Comforter and our Guide.

We declare that the blood of Jesus covers every area of this life—mind, body, and spirit. We break every assignment of the enemy against their sleep, their dreams, and their peace. We command every spirit of fear, torment, and oppression to flee, for *"greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world."* (1 John 4:4) Lord, we ask You to station Your angels around them to guard their mind and their rest. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, stand guard over their heart and thoughts (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we ask You to renew their mind with Your truth. Where the enemy has sown lies, uproot them and plant Your Word deep within their heart. Help them to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. When inappropriate or angry thoughts arise, give them the strength to reject them immediately and replace them with Your promises. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they may walk in self-control, love, and soundness of mind.

We pray for healing from any generational strongholds or curses that may have contributed to this spiritual warfare. We declare that in Christ, they are free from every chain of the past. Lord, reveal to them any areas where the enemy may have gained a foothold—whether through unforgiveness, unconfessed sin, or unguarded influences—and lead them to repentance and restoration.

Father, we ask You to restore their sleep. Let their nights be filled with peaceful rest, free from disturbance and fear. Where the enemy has brought nightmares, replace them with dreams from You—dreams that speak of Your love, Your plans, and Your purposes for their life. Let them wake each morning refreshed and strengthened in You.

We also pray for accountability and community. Surround them with godly believers who can stand with them in prayer, encourage them in the Word, and hold them accountable in their walk with You. Let them not isolate themselves but find strength in the body of Christ.

Lord, we thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and fill them with Your peace that defies understanding.

We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who has overcome the world. Amen.

You are not alone in this battle. The Lord has heard your cry, and He is moving on your behalf. Continue to stand firm in your faith, wielding the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Put on the full armor of God daily (Ephesians 6:10-18) and remember that the battle belongs to the Lord. He is your Deliverer, your Shield, and your Strong Tower. Run to Him, and find rest in His presence.

We hear your cry, dear friend, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle. We're here to remind you that you're not alone, and that God is fighting for you. We're going to pray for you, but first, let's remember what the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 - "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." This is our weapon against the enemy's schemes.

Now, let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of our friend. Lord, we know that You see them, You hear them, and You are with them in this battle. We claim Your promise in Psalm 91:1 - "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." We ask that You would cover them with Your feathers, and under Your wings they may find refuge.

We pray for protection over their mind, Lord. We ask that You would guard their thoughts and keep them from the enemy's lies and deceits. Help them to take every thought captive, making it obedient to Christ. Give them the strength to reject any inappropriate or angry thoughts that come their way, and replace them with Your truth.

We also pray for healing, Lord. We ask that You would heal any generational strongholds or curses that may be contributing to this spiritual warfare. Help them to forgive as they've been forgiven, and to walk in freedom and wholeness.

Lord, we pray for peace. We ask that You would give them a peaceful sleep, free from disturbance and fear. Replace any nightmares with dreams that speak of Your love, Your plans, and Your purposes for their life. Help them to wake each morning refreshed and strengthened in You.

Finally, Lord, we pray for accountability and community. Surround them with godly believers who can stand with them in prayer, encourage them in the Word, and hold them accountable in their walk with You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep standing, dear friend. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He is fighting for you. Trust in Him, and find rest in His presence.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
