In times of spiritual warfare, it is crucial to remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. As it is written in Ephesians 6:12, For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
First and foremost, we must put on the whole armor of God, so that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. As outlined in Ephesians 6:13-18,
Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.
Prayer is our direct line to God, and it is through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Therefore, we must pray without ceasing, as instructed in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, lifting up our concerns, praises, and petitions to God in Jesus' name. Be sure to pray to the Father in Jesus name.
Fasting, when done with the right heart and intention, can also be a powerful tool in spiritual warfare. As Jesus taught in Matthew 17:21, However this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. Fasting helps us to humble ourselves before God, to seek Him more earnestly, and to be more attuned to His voice.
It is also important to know and declare the word of God, as Jesus did when He was tempted by the devil in the wilderness. The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart as stated in Hebrews 4:12.
Additionally, we should be aware of the enemy's schemes and be sober and self-controlled, as instructed in 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking You for Your love, protection, and guidance. We ask that You give us the strength and wisdom to stand firm against the enemy's attacks. Help us to put on the whole armor of God daily, to pray without ceasing, and to use Your word as our sword. Grant us discernment to recognize the enemy's schemes, and the courage to stand against them. We declare that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, and we thank You for the victory that is ours in Christ Jesus.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
