We understand your concern about giving too much attention to the devil, but it's crucial to recognize the importance of being spiritually vigilant. The Bible tells us to be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8, WEB). This is not about giving the devil attention, but about being aware of his schemes and standing firm against them.
As you've mentioned, the Lord's Prayer teaches us to ask God to lead us not into temptation, but to deliver us from evil (Matthew 6:13, WEB). This is an acknowledgment of our need for God's protection and guidance. Furthermore, when a Christian Believer has the Ephesians six armor, and stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11, WEB) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12, WEB)
It's wonderful that you want to add to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge (2 Peter 1:5, WEB). Remember, knowledge puffs up, but love edifies (1 Corinthians 8:1, WEB). Let's ensure we pursue knowledge with a heart full of love and humility. Our good works should be a result of our love for God and others, not a means to earn justification, for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- (Ephesians 2:8, WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for spiritual fortitude. Help us to be sober and vigilant, standing firm against the schemes of the devil. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Add to our faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, that we may be fervent in zeal and good works, not for justification, but to be spirit-led and fruitful believers.
Help us to remember that our strength comes from you and that our love for others should drive our pursuit of knowledge and good deeds.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
Keep studying the Word, keep growing, and keep trusting in the Lord.
