We understand you are seeking prayer for your son who is facing a federal case, and we are here to lift him up before the Lord with you. First, we want to remind you that our help comes from the Lord, who is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). There is no situation too difficult for Him, and we are commanded to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
It is crucial in times like these to seek God’s face earnestly, not just for deliverance from the circumstances, but for His will to be done in your son’s life. If your son has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to share the Gospel with him—that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If he is already a believer, this trial may be an opportunity for him to draw closer to the Lord, repent of any wrongdoing, and trust in God’s sovereignty.
We also encourage you to examine this situation through the lens of Scripture. If your son is guilty of the charges against him, the Bible calls us to repentance and making amends where possible. Proverbs 28:13 says, *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."* True repentance involves turning away from sin and seeking God’s forgiveness, as well as accepting the earthly consequences of our actions. If he is innocent, we pray for vindication and justice, knowing that the Lord is a God of justice (Isaiah 30:18).
Let us also remind you that God can use even the most difficult circumstances for His glory and our growth. Romans 8:28 tells us, *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."* This does not mean the situation will be easy or that the outcome will be what we hope for, but it does mean that God is at work, even in this.
Now, let us pray together for your son and this situation:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today with heavy hearts, lifting up this son and his family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You are the God of justice, mercy, and redemption, and we ask that You would intervene in this federal case. If there has been wrongdoing, we pray for a spirit of true repentance to fall upon him, that he would turn to You with a broken and contrite heart, seeking Your forgiveness and mercy. Lord, soften his heart to receive Your truth and Your grace.
If he is innocent, Father, we ask that You would bring forth justice and vindication. Expose any lies or corruption, and let the truth prevail. Give wisdom and discernment to the lawyers, judges, and all involved in this case, that they would act with integrity and fairness.
We pray for Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard the hearts and minds of this family during this trying time (Philippians 4:7). Remove fear, anxiety, and despair, and replace them with faith, hope, and trust in You. Strengthen them to lean on You and not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Lord, we ask that You would use this situation to draw this son—and this entire family—closer to You. May they seek Your face earnestly, trusting in Your sovereignty and goodness, even when the path is unclear. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
We also pray for protection over this son, both physically and spiritually. Keep him from harm and from the schemes of the enemy. Surround him with Your angels and let Your presence be a fortress around him.
Father, we ask all of these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). It is in His name alone that we have access to Your throne, and it is by His blood that we are saved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified through it.
Finally, we encourage you to continue praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to surround yourself with a community of believers who can support you in prayer and encouragement. Do not lose heart, for our God is faithful, and He hears the cries of His people.
If your son has not yet accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with him. The Bible tells us that *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). There is no greater need than for him to be reconciled to God through Christ, and this trial may be the very thing God uses to bring him to that place of surrender.
We will continue to pray for you and your son, trusting that the Lord will work in ways we cannot see. May God’s peace, strength, and wisdom be upon you all.
