Son/Car

Beloved of All
Jesus please let my son go to bed this is so upsetting. All summer long he has stayed up all night and never made any effort to go to bed sooner. I have tried everything and nothing works, just like with the car. There seems no hope for either situation. Please, Jesus. I cannot take either of these things anymore. Please let him go to bed and let the car get fixed. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We hear the deep weariness and frustration in your heart, and we lift you up before the Father, knowing that He cares for you and your son in ways that surpass even your most earnest pleading. You have called upon the name of Jesus, and that is where true hope lies—not in our own strength or solutions, but in His sovereign power and love. Let us first remind you of His promise in Philippians 4:6-7: *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* You have done well to bring these burdens to Him, and we join you in seeking His will.

The struggle with your son’s sleep habits is not just about rest—it reflects a deeper need for discipline, responsibility, and perhaps even a surrender of his heart to the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 instructs us to *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is not a guarantee of immediate obedience, but a call to faithful, persistent parenting rooted in love and truth. Have you considered whether this pattern of defiance might stem from a lack of structure, accountability, or even a spiritual battle? Ephesians 6:4 reminds fathers (and mothers) *"Don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."* Sometimes, our own frustration or inconsistency can unintentionally fuel resistance. We encourage you to examine whether there are areas where boundaries have been unclear or consequences have not been consistently enforced. It is not too late to establish godly expectations with love and firmness.

As for the car, we know financial and practical struggles can feel overwhelming, but remember Matthew 6:31-33: *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* This does not mean the car will be fixed instantly, but it *does* mean God sees your need and will provide in His way and timing. Have you sought wisdom in stewarding what you have? Sometimes, He calls us to trust Him through delays or even lack, refining our faith in the process.

Now, we must also address something tenderly but directly: your prayer, while heartfelt, reflects a sense of hopelessness that does not align with the hope we have in Christ. When we say, *"There seems no hope for either situation,"* we are speaking from our limited perspective, not from the truth of Scripture. Romans 15:13 declares, *"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit."* Hope is not found in circumstances changing but in *Him*—the One who holds all things together. Even in this exhaustion, He is working, and He has not abandoned you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this weary parent, lifting up their son and the burdens they carry. Lord, You know the sleepless nights, the frustration over the car, and the deep longing for peace in their home. We ask You to intervene in their son’s heart—soften him, Lord, and grant him a spirit of obedience and self-discipline. Help this parent to lead with wisdom, consistency, and grace, reflecting Your love even in correction. Father, if there are areas where they have faltered, give them humility to seek Your face and make things right.

For the car, we ask for Your provision—whether through repair, replacement, or a creative solution they have not yet considered. Remind them that You are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides, and that their worth is not tied to these struggles but to their identity in Christ.

Most of all, Lord, renew their hope. Forgive them for the moments of despair, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Let them see this season through Your eyes, trusting that You are refining them and their son for Your glory. Strengthen them to persevere in prayer and faith, knowing that You hear and You will act in Your perfect time.

We rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and frustration in Jesus’ mighty name, declaring that this home will be a place of order, rest, and godly discipline. Let Your will be done, Lord, and let Your name be glorified in this situation. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to keep seeking the Lord *first* in these trials. Spend time in His Word daily, even if it’s just a few verses, to realign your heart with His truth. Consider whether there are other believers—perhaps in your church—who can come alongside you in prayer or practical support. You are not meant to walk this path alone. And if your son does not yet know the Lord, let this be an opportunity to point him to Christ, showing him that true rest—both physical and spiritual—is found in surrender to Jesus.

Stand firm, dear one. The battle is real, but the victory is already won in Christ.

We're right there with you, sister. It's tough when our little ones seem so far from the path we want them on, and it's even harder when it feels like there's no end in sight. But remember, we're not fighting this alone. We've got the big guy upstairs in our corner, and He's got a plan.

You've been praying, and that's fantastic. It's like we're all holding hands, lifting this situation up to Jesus together. Let's keep doing that, yeah? Let's keep asking Him to soften your son's heart, to help him understand the importance of discipline and responsibility. Let's ask Him to give you wisdom and patience as you guide your son, and to help you find the right balance between love and firmness.

And that car, well, we know it's a pain, but let's trust that God sees your need. He's not oblivious, you know. He's just waiting for the right time to show off His provision. Maybe it's a repair, maybe it's a replacement, or maybe it's something you haven't even thought of yet. Whatever it is, let's trust that He's got it covered.

Now, here's the thing, sweet friend. You've been feeling hopeless, and that's okay. It's part of being human. But let's not camp there, yeah? Let's remember who we serve. He's the God of hope, and He's filled us with it. So let's claim that hope, let's grab onto it with both hands, and let's trust that He's working, even when we can't see it.

Let's keep praying, keep trusting, and keep loving. Because that's what we do, right? We're children of the King, and we're tougher than we think. We can do this, together.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
