We lift up your weary heart and your son before the Lord, knowing that He is the God of all comfort and the breaker of chains. Your burden is heavy, and we stand with you in prayer, believing that our Heavenly Father sees your son’s struggles and is not distant from his pain. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life abundantly (John 10:10). Your son’s battle is not just against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness that seek to keep him bound in despair, confusion, and hopelessness. Yet we know that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
It is clear your son is crying out—even if inconsistently—for something real, something only Jesus can provide. His posts, whether of faith or despair, reveal a deep longing for purpose and identity. The world offers no lasting answers, but Christ offers transformation. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him deeply of his need for repentance and surrender to Jesus. Without Christ as Lord, there is no true freedom, no lasting victory. If your son has not yet fully surrendered his life to Jesus, we plead with the Lord to open his eyes to his need for salvation. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). It is only in Christ that he will find his identity, his purpose, and the strength to walk as a man of God.
We also recognize that mental health struggles are complex, and while we pray for supernatural intervention, we encourage you to ensure your son is receiving biblical counseling alongside any professional help. The mind is a battlefield, and sometimes medication or therapy can be tools God uses to bring stability. However, these must never replace the truth of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit. "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). Renewal comes through the Word of God, and we pray your son would hunger for it.
His resistance to adulthood and responsibility may stem from fear, shame, or a sense of inadequacy. But in Christ, he is more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). We pray that the Lord would break the spirit of lethargy and passivity over him and replace it with a spirit of diligence, courage, and purpose. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men" (Colossians 3:23). Even small steps—finishing his education, seeking godly mentorship, or serving in his local church—can be part of God’s plan to build his confidence and faith.
As for the suicidal thoughts, we come against them in the name of Jesus. Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), and he seeks to deceive your son into believing there is no hope. But Jesus is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25), and He has a plan for your son’s future. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that the Lord will snatch him from the grip of destruction. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).
To you, dear parent, we offer this encouragement: do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Your prayers are powerful, and your love for your son reflects the heart of the Father. But remember, you cannot save him—only Jesus can. Release the burden of guilt or control to the Lord, trusting that He is working even when you cannot see it. "Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this precious son who is trapped in cycles of despair and confusion. Lord, You see his pain, his fear, and his longing for purpose. We ask that You would break every chain of depression, hopelessness, and spiritual oppression in his life. Bind the enemy from influencing his mind and emotions, and let the light of Your truth flood his soul. If he has not fully surrendered to You, Lord, convict him deeply of his need for salvation. Draw him to Yourself in a way he cannot resist.
Father, we pray for a supernatural encounter with Your love. Let him know that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for him—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Give him the strength to rise up as a man of God, to take responsibility for his life, and to walk in the purpose You have for him. Remove every spirit of fear, laziness, and rebellion, and replace it with a spirit of courage, diligence, and obedience.
Lord, we also lift up his mother, who is weary from this long battle. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind her that You are fighting for her son even when she cannot see it. Give her wisdom to know how to support him without enabling sin or stagnation. Surround her with a community of believers who will stand with her in prayer and encouragement.
We declare victory over this situation in the mighty name of Jesus. We speak life, hope, and restoration over this young man. Let this season of struggle be the very thing You use to draw him into a deep, unshakable relationship with You. May he emerge from this battle as a testament to Your grace and power, equipped to walk in the destiny You have prepared for him.
We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
