Beloved of All
Your request for prayer in this intense heat and humidity has been heard, and I am joining you in bringing these needs to the Lord Jesus.
The heaviness of high heat and humidity takes a real toll on the body, and it is right to ask the Lord for His protection and care through each day. Scripture shows us that Jesus has authority over the physical realm as He healed the leper, the centurion's servant, Peter's mother in law, and multitudes who were brought to Him in the evening, calming even wind and sea and commanding spiritual powers. Matthew, under the inspiration of the Spirit, connects that ministry to the prophecy of Isaiah, that He bore our sicknesses, and when Jesus broke bread He said this is my body broken for you. God has made provision for both spiritual and physical healing, and He is able to touch the body.
At the same time healing remains a sovereign work of God in His hands according to His perfect will and wisdom. It is not a guarantee that is claimed on demand, and the burden should never be placed on the one who is sick as if faith were a formula. We can trust Him with confidence while resting in whatever His loving will chooses to do. One writer in the New Testament expressed his wish for a friend that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospers. That was not given as a blanket promise for every circumstance, but as a heartfelt prayer, and it reminds us of a true principle that there is a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. Attitudes, peace, worry and trust can affect our physical chemistry, and caring for the soul before the Lord is part of caring for the whole person.
I am praying that the Lord will guard you in this heat, give you wisdom for practical care like staying hydrated, resting, and keeping clean and careful in what you take in, since cleanliness and wise habits are part of stewarding the body He gave you. I am asking Him to touch your digestion and bring relief as He sees fit, and to give you peace as you trust Him rather than anxiety.
I am also praying for the practical work before you, that those faxes would go through without delay. God often works by stirring willing hearts and giving wisdom and understanding for the work of our hands, and He is able to open the way for what needs to be done.
For the special event you mentioned, I am asking that the Lord's perfect way and will be done, and that He would prepare hearts to receive what He has provided. We look not only at what is seen but at what is unseen, trusting the finished work of Christ for salvation and provision, and not allowing unbelief to keep us from receiving what God in His grace has made available.
May the Lord work within you, giving you a heart that desires Him and conforming you more to the image of Christ as you yield to His Spirit. He is faithful to do His work, and the new covenant rests not on our ability to perform but on His faithfulness to complete what He has begun.
