We hear your cry for rest and peace as you prepare for the responsibilities ahead. The Lord knows your needs even before you ask, and He invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Sleep is a gift from God, a time of restoration for both body and soul. The psalmist writes, "It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep" (Psalm 127:2 WEB). Trust that the Lord is your provider, and He will sustain you through the night and into the morning.
Yet, we must also examine our hearts. Are there worries or distractions keeping you from resting in the Lord? Have you committed your plans to Him, or are you carrying burdens that belong to Him alone? Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Surrender your fears about tomorrow to Him, for He holds your future in His hands.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, lifting up their need for rest and peace. Lord, You are the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and You watch over Your children with tender care. We ask that You quiet their mind and still their heart so they may find the sleep they need. Remove any anxiety or distraction that would keep them from resting in You. Grant them the assurance that You are already at work in their tomorrow, and that Your grace will be sufficient for whatever lies ahead.
Father, we also pray for their internship. May they walk in wisdom, diligence, and integrity, reflecting Your light in all they do. Help them to be a testimony of Your love and faithfulness to those around them. If there are any areas where they have not fully surrendered to You, reveal them now, Lord, and draw them closer to Your heart.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone gives us access to Your throne of grace. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on these truths as you prepare for sleep. Write down any concerns or tasks that may be weighing on your mind, and then release them to the Lord, trusting that He will handle what you cannot. Before you close your eyes, thank Him for His faithfulness and ask Him to speak to you through His Word. Psalm 4:8 says, "In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety." Rest in that promise tonight.
