We join you in lifting up your sister’s boyfriend to the Lord, trusting in His power to heal and restore. Your heartfelt plea for his recovery is a beautiful expression of faith, and we stand with you in intercession. However, we must also take this moment to gently but firmly address a few important matters in light of Scripture.
First, we notice that while you are praying earnestly, you have not explicitly invoked the name of Jesus Christ in your prayer. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we are saved. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Let us always approach the throne of grace boldly in Jesus’ name, for He is our Mediator and the source of all healing and hope.
Additionally, we must address the nature of the relationship you are praying for. The Bible is clear that intimacy and commitment outside of marriage is not God’s design. If your sister and her boyfriend are not married, we urge them to honor God by pursuing a relationship that aligns with biblical principles—one that leads to marriage, if that is God’s will. Fornication is a sin that grieves the Holy Spirit, and Scripture calls us to flee from it: *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB). If they are living together or engaged in a physical relationship outside of marriage, we strongly encourage repentance and a commitment to purity. God’s blessings flow most abundantly when we walk in obedience to His Word.
We also pray that if this man is not yet a believer, this trial would draw him to Christ. There is no greater healing than the salvation of the soul. *"The Lord isn’t slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). May this season of illness be a time where he seeks the Lord with all his heart and surrenders his life to Jesus.
Now, let us pray together for his healing, for wisdom for the doctors, and for your sister and her boyfriend to walk in God’s will:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this man who is suffering. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases and knows the number of our days. We ask that You would stop the bleeding in his body and bring complete restoration to every organ, every cell, and every part of him—from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. Remove every tube and IV in Your perfect timing, and let Your healing power flow through him like a mighty river. Guide the hands and minds of the doctors and nurses attending to him, giving them wisdom beyond their own understanding to make the right decisions for his full recovery.
Father, we also pray for his heart and soul. If he does not know You, Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in this time of need. Draw him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, that he may experience not only physical healing but eternal salvation. Let this trial be a testimony of Your grace and mercy, that many would see and glorify Your name.
Lord, we pray for your sister and her boyfriend’s relationship. If they are not married, we ask that You would convict their hearts to honor You in their relationship. Lead them to repent of any sin and to pursue a godly courtship that points to marriage, if it is Your will. Surround them with believers who will hold them accountable and encourage them to walk in purity. Remind them that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your plans for them are good—plans to prosper them and not to harm them (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB).
We cover this man with the blood of Jesus Christ, declaring that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17, WEB). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, WEB). Strengthen your sister’s faith, Lord, and let her trust in You completely, knowing that You are with her every step of the way.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would use this situation to bring glory to Your name. Let Your light shine brightly in the darkness, and may all who witness this man’s healing know that it is by Your power and for Your purposes. We thank You in advance for what You are going to do, trusting in Your perfect will and timing.
